This last weekend I went to Ohayocon in Columbus Ohio my first Con. I cosplayed (dressed up as one of my favorite characters) and for the first time I felt like I belonged to a group that was in some way like me. There was still that awkwardness of not being able to start up a convo with strangers but...... it was good. I was wondering if anyone else with Aspergers or Autism love anime like I do and has ever gone to an Con. Further more if you live near Ohio the next Con I really really want to go to is Tekkoshocon VII in Pittsburgh, PA

I keep on wanting to go to Sakura Con up in Seattle, but I always lack the funds to actually do it.

DNForrest, you're in Oregon? You know Portland has Kumoricon every Labor Day weekend, right?

I've been to eeeeeevery one of them, even the first one in Eugene in November one year.

I used to go to Sakura Con, but there was "unpleasantness" between them and my panel group.

I went to Otafest in Calgary last year, but probably won't go back because of the distance.

For the past two years I've gone to Anime Evolution in Vancouver BC.

Then there's MEWcon and ChibiChibicon (the latter of which is coming up this month I believe, but it got whittled down to one day).

I went to the AnimeExpo (AX) in Anaheim, CA one year. I don't actually watch anime but I went with a friend. It was pretty cool :)

I've always wanted to go to Sakura Con too! But I was too busy to make it, so I went to Anime Vegas instead. But now I'm not even on the west coast anymore, I moved to Maryland. Hopefully I'll be able to go to Otakon.

Are cons any good, I have only been realy into it for about half a year and though I have seen a bunch I don't know how I would fit in with people who have been into it for years. I had been looking for an anime character that might have a goatee on chin and mustache to incorperate my own into a cosplay. Couldnt find one until I watched School Rumble and Harima Kenji has a very simular style even to the point of that I offten wear sunglasses and wearing black. I know I have heard of some cons around Sydney so my my only problem might be my courage to actualy even checking it out.

http://www.animecons.com/events/

This is a great website to help you look for conventions.

The cast of MST3K? Which cast? Not Joel, surely.

I usually go to four anime conventions in the DC area. T-Mode, Anime USA, Katsucon, and Otakon. I started going to them with Katsucon 2007. The next one I'll be going to will be Katsucon 2009, which will occur in the next few days.

I would rather go to one in San Antonio than Austin, because driving in Austin is hell.

I just moved to MD. Maybe we'll end up meeting each other at one of these cons (Katsucon '09 is too close. I don't have time to get ready.)
