In episode 2x06, a therapist suggests to Sarah that Cameron "exhibit[s] possible Asperger's symptoms". I know the robot analogy gets old, but I couldn't help but think that some of her mannerisms were extremely AS in nature.

Let me guess... Cameron is one of the Terminators?

I watched the show a little bit, never really got into it because I always have loads of homework on the nights it airs. Had to lol at this one though.

Of course, if the robots are aspies, what about their creators? I'm referring to the good ones that want to help the humans, like good old Arnold Schwartznegger.

Her gait, the way she tilts her head, speaking patterns, the way she comes too close when she talks to people (when John tells her not to do it, she responds with "I was evaluating their threat level" which I found hilarious), how she stares at people when they are talking...all very AS.

No, he's human. He's John's uncle.

I think Summer Glau should play an Aspie. She was great in Firefly, too.

They should have Brian Austin Green play David Silver

Does anyone know how hard it is to program something to be human in all ways? The only true way to program such a being would be to program it with the ability to learn. With this underway, you will have something that will make mistakes. This method could create a successful being in a few years depending on how well it has been programmed to learn.
Doing so with instructions would give the appearance of AS. There are too many variables to consider. So many formulae to write. It could probably take 10 years of constant programming non-stop. The better option for AI is to give it the ability to learn. But this is pretty much creating something that is human, and probably capable of dreaming. You could almost say this ability could give it "life" and therefore move from the realm of artificial to real. Although recreation would be difficult.

Yes, I've spent may hours on my own and I've had a lot of time to think about this one. I welcome all comments on this post. I believe this is right and therefore my theory, and no-one should take this as fact

Of course a character that is a robot trying to behave like a human is going to appear to have A.S. And in sci-fi, it's common to have at least one character that is not human but trying to be. Spock, Data, Odo, The Doctor... and that's just Star Trek. ;) I think Summer just pulls it off very well.

And Keith, I agree with you whole-heartedly. I also find contemplating artificial intelligence endlessly entertaining. And programming is a hobby of mine. All bow to the Singularity! :)

Good observation. Off the set she walks like that too from what I have seen. She has a beautiful walk in my opinion. She was very shy and home schooled due to her very busy dancing career.

She said she used to have trouble communicating with her peers and she seemed to feel that she could express herself better through her dancing. She spent a lot of time playing alone.

Also according to her she never got over her anxiety until her parents brought her to LA to stay with friends.

None of this in her exact words but its in her bios.

She has even mentioned she took to the quirky social behaviour of Cameron and River, because in a way she could relate.

Does this suggest that Summer Glau might be Different and special as the people on these forums are?

Whatever, she has managed to conquer her handicaps whether they were only anxiety related. For that I have to applaude and respect her.
