No, I loved it.

Just saying it was a little sad, which was good.

Yay! I found another Bicentennial Man Fan!
Well its not an obsession film to me, it was years since I saw it last time but it draw some special attention to me...

Maybe its three of us. I happened to see a forum nember with this very nickname the other day.

Yes its a sad story but also entertaining. I love the first half of the film the best before Galathea and all that stuff...
And I adore the music from the film. I can have my periods when I run it on YouTube over and over...

I thought the movie was interesting.

Didn't feel it had a happy or sad ending to either extreme.

Android wants to find meaning in life, seeks to be human, makes it possible to be as human as possible, but being prospectively immortal is something that keeps him separated from humans. So, he elects to alter himself so that he will someday die and on the day he dies, the world congress declares him to be a man.

Humanity is ultimately defined by our mortality, and I felt that was underscored by how his wife told him that she would not do anything to stay young forever...that for her, death was something that must someday happen.

Yup, that was a good movie. Although, i think i would say this for alot of movies.... The book (or in this case short story) was far far better.

I think Asimov would have liked it.

The first half was very funny, the second a bit too sentimental for my taste.

I have seen the movie, and like it, of course Robin Williams is great in it. Favirout bits is when he tries to learn jokes.

I think the book was better... or to put it more accurately, the story was better as a book... If I were the one to transcribe it to screen media, it would have been a TV series, not a single film... It just drags from one semi-plot point to another, like a lot of those "live the life" movies (Mr. Holland's Opus is another good example)...

Viewing the entire life of a character, regardless of whether the character is human or not, is always done best in series format rather than singular film... For example, Data from Star Trek is very much an Asimov-inspired character (practically the same motivations as Andrew Martin), but you could reveal much more facets of his character by using a TV series... I don't think Data would have had nearly as much depth to his character without all those episodes in Star Trek TNG...

I'm not saying the story was bad... if anything, the story itself was great, and Robin Williams was great as always, but I don't think it made for a good film...
