The "Lost" Appreciation Thread

Just wondering if anyone else actually likes "Lost" here at WP because i've noticed alot of people here not liking it because they claim it's boring.

I don't like the way people (online and off) dismiss the show and complain about things that don't make alot of sense since if they'd actually watched the show, they'd discover their problems were already addressed (like "why haven't they built a boat yet?" which they did. In fact, it was a major plot point of season one)

Even though season 4 was kind of iffy (even though there were still good episodes like "The Constant") it's still one of the best shows on TV and Season 5 has gotten off to a promising start. Anyone else agree?

I've loved it from the start, and I don't understand why so many people won't even give it a chance. I even have the Lost board game sitting in my room just waiting for someone else in my real life to suddenly become a fan so I can actually play it

I'm with you, I think it's one of the best shows on T.V. I make sure to watch it every week.

Yes, I have experienced that at work. I mention Lost and this one girl said "Oh I hate Lost! I thank god it will end soon!" and I asked why she didn't like Lost and she just said "Oh I saw an episode and it just seems stupid." And I said, so if you don't even watch it why are you waiting for it to end. It doesn't make sense, she hasn't even seen any of season one, and she is just judging the show on an episode which will of course be confusing if you don't even know anything. I always try to explain that you need to see all of the episodes to understand and to be excited about new mysteries. After I say all of that they can't seem to think of anything bad to say.

Ironically, when Lost first came out, I was under the impression it was just like a drama island show so I didn't like the idea of a drama island until I saw the last two episodes of the first season, and then I just started watching it and I was hooked.

So I guess, the misconception is that Lost is just an island of survivors with alot of drama. So people don't know about all the mystery since you can't really highlight that in the previews all to well, but you can highlight the drama that it creates. So all people see in previews is drama drama drama. But once someone watches an episode and know that there is mystery even if you are totally confused, there should be no debate that Lost has more depth, and cannot be discounted and must be given a chance.

I watched it for a while, and then got bored of it.
I did like it at first though.

I wish they would have planned it out better, so it could have been 3 or 4 really well-thought-out seasons instead of just endless rambling like it seems to be now. The X-files was my favorite show for years, but I stopped watching that when they dragged on with too many unresolved plot points too.

I thought the inclusion of Neil the "red shirt" in the premier episode this season felt really contrived.

I really like it. It's funny though, because for its first two seasons or so, I was under the impression that it was just a reality show, kind of like Survivor. Once I realized what it was, I bought the first season on DVD, then the second season, then the third season. Finished watch that just in time to start season 4 when it was airing and have seen every episode since.

A fan here.

I didn't mind season 4 (actually, season 4 is my favourite overall due to it relying on definite plot points, rather than the numerous side characterisations); the Ben and Locke episodes were awesome.

Season 5 is going good too.
