By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Jenny McCarthy is poised to become the next star in Oprah Winfrey's media empire.

McCarthy has inked a multi-year deal with Winfrey's Harpo Prods. to develop projects on different platforms, including a syndicated talk show that the actress/author would host.

The first collaboration under the pact is a blog by McCarthy on Oprah.com, which launched Friday. Like other Winfrey proteges-turned-TV moguls, among them Rachael Ray and Dr. Phil, McCarthy has been a frequent guest on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

McCarthy talked to the chat queen about her struggles with her son's autism in conjunction with the publication of her best-selling books "Louder Than Words: A Mother's Journey in Healing Autism" and "Mother Warriors: A Nation of Parents Healing Autism Against All Odds." McCarthy also has participated twice in Winfrey's Friday Live panels, most recently this past Friday.

A former Playboy model, McCarthy burst into the TV scene as the host of MTV's dating show "Singled Out," a job that jump-started her acting career. She later segued into writing with a string of best-selling books and became an activist on behalf of the search for a cure for autism.

The real villian here is Oprah. She brings crackpot after crackpot to the forefront and has caused so much pain, suffering and death to the public with her support of pseudo-science that I wish she could be brought up on some kind of criminal charges.
She is the reason there needs to be an equivalent to the RICO Act for scam artists. She can't be prosecuted for any individual thing, but if we look at everything she has done over the years, it is down right criminal.

I never liked Jenny McCarthy - I always thought she was an obnoxious bimbo before she even got into the anti-vaccination nonsense. A lot of guys found her attractive but I never did.

Jenny McCarthy's "vaccination gave my son an ASD" line might suffer less in the credibility department if she could make it through a five minute conversation without stimming like crazy, or without the obviously gauche non-verbal expression that characterizes her pervasively.

I wonder how she overlooks the obviously indicative nature of her intense, preoccupying all-encompassing interest in ASD subsequent to her son's diagnosis. She herself has earlier detected her own deficits in non-verbal expression (she asserted as much in an interview years before she even had a child).

As for this Jim chap she dates being an "autism whisperer" (as Jenny refers to him), I find this is very likely to be ironically accurate, in the instance that he tends to whisper a lot.

Jim Carey hasn't been funny in many years, either.

I would agree, however I did enjoy Yes Man. But I don't think that fact owes anything to Jim Carey specifically. I am a big Zooey Deschanel fan, though. And that guy from Flight of the Concords was very funny it the movie as well. In short, it wasn't just a rehash of Liar Liar, as I thought it would be.

As for his claims to being an "autism whisperer," I can say that if I met him, his antics would frighten and confuse me.

I really don't think he was funny much after he was on In Living Color. A few of his early movies were, but then his characters all grew tiresome - pretty much all him acting like an idiot (much like Adam Sandler, who I don't find funny at all except a few early SNL things and the song "Ode to my Car.")

WTF?? I heard on a commercial that he was doing his final appearance on Oprah and I was quite happy. But now this... The man has his nurses wave their hands over his patients and do magic woo-woo crap DURING SURGERY!! !
I will concede, on the authority of Dr. Steven Novella and the amazing James Randi that he IS a fine surgeon... but all the woo-woo pseudo-science crap he pushes completely negates that.

Damn him...damn her... grrrr
