I've been a British sci-fi comic fan all my life, but I decided to try some manga recently. I got some books of "Battle Royale" and "G T O" . I like the art and japanese humour! Does anyone else read any?

Yep. I sure do. I'm interested in Japanese history and tuberculosis, so I like to read Peacemaker Kurogane and Rurouni Kenshin. Both are based on Japanese history, and Okita Soji is in both of them. He was a samurai who had tuberculosis. I even dressed up as Okita at an anime convention last year.

Yes, I read manga. Here's a list of the manga I've read:

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (up to volume 4)

Rurouni Kenshin (up to volume 5)

Saiyuki (Up to volume 5)

Fruits Basket (Haven't read past volume 1)

Fullmetal Alchemist (Haven't read past volume 1)

Wolf's Rain (Halfway through)

Hellsing, all the way up to vol 5, I think. The plot's starting to become a self-parody and it's just a goolash of archetypes but it's still freaking cool. One other thing a friend gave me too but I won't even mention the name of it because it didn't really hold my interest all that much.

Are you still reading Evangelion, Tom?

If you like the manga, I suggest you check out the anime, as well. They stories thus far are similiar, but the subplots are quite different (as are some of the characterizations).

End of Evangelion scared me, too. My dad bought it for me as a Christmas present when I was about 17. I only watched it once.

It's totally awesome.

Objectively it's not very original and they've stopped trying to be plausible (as in, you can imaging this happening in the universe that was created for it to happen in in your mind).

But I love it anyway.

I'm currently collecting the Fruits Basket manga. I also have all the Gravitation manga, in Japanese. Right after I bought them the news came out that Tokyopop would translate Gravitation, so the manga I have now is pretty much useless. :?

I have also read Love Hina, some Inu Yasha, Ranma 1/2, Peach Girl, Fushigi Yugi, Card Captor Sakura and some others I can't remember.

I am having great difficulty actually finding any. I mean, sure, all the book stores have millions of 'How to draw Manga'. But there is one problem, Where is all the Manga???! !! What's the point of learning to draw something you don't know anything about? The only Manga I can actually find is Online Manga.

Just as a side note, is that the reason for your username? Over the years, I've read a little bit of manga, mostly books I borrowed from one of my friends. I don't remember what the series was called, though "Chobits" seems to strike a familiar chord somewhere. 8)

I need to borrow chobits from my manga source. I have never bought one but she has a bunch and loans them to me. I've seen the series (loaned from her as well) but the ending was danged confusing; I think the manga may explain it a little.

((As a stupid side note, after I watched the DVD we somehow managed to say "pant-su" to each other in nearly every single conversation for a month. Which is easier than it sounds when you don't bother with any context.))

Yep, it sure is. Okita is the TB Samurai. But then there is also Ukyo Tachibana from Samurai Spirits, who also has TB.

One person recently let me their copy of RG Veda volume one. I loved it. It was right up my alley in almost every possible way. But I still liked the Wolf's Rain manga better.
