Hi Everyone, :D

I’ll start off by staying I am not sure if I have asperger’s or not. I’m here to learn both about myself and the students I work with. I did take two online tests:

Cupid Test (1 out of 50) = 34
The 200 Questions Test= 174 out of 200

What is your first name? I’ll go by Lortiz for now.

Age: 24

Location: Anywhere but earth

Hobbies and Interests: writing, drawing, acting, Christianity, Christian science, insects, science, rotifers, microbiology, travel, natural disasters and weather, Red Sox (WS 2007!! !! !!), animation, cartooning, anime, Don Bluth, Disney, independent film, plants, art, musicals, daydreaming, rpg, Super Nintendo games, nature, water bears, reading

Why are you here?

I don’t have an official diagnosis, but if I do find out I have this condition, it will explain so much about myself...

I'm here to understand Asperger's and hopefully find out some the answers about myself and students I work with. I've always been fascinated by autism (my mother works primarily with autistic students), but most of the time I studied it, I was greeted with information of "Rain Man personalities" or talented musicians who rocked back and forth all day except when they played their given instrument. I am amazed at how unaware I was of something that MAY be the key to my mutant powers! (I am an X-Men, by the way) : ) :D :D

I guess I started to suspect the connection when I began tutoring a creative genius in cartooning. I was the only art teacher he responded to, and the more I worked with him, the more I realized he THOUGHT JUST LIKE ME....IN PICTURES. I recognized similarities in our thought patterns, but dismissed them because he exhibited weaknesses in most academics.

I work as a teacher’s assistant in the special education room at a performing arts school. The director required all of the assistants to read an article called “Parallel Play”, a reflection of a “lifetime of restless isolation explained” . As I read on, I came to a startling realization that the author’s experience was not unlike my own. For the first time, I read about someone who really thought like me.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):

Favorite subjects: Everything except math and gym

Favorite music: Enya, Nightwish, classical, 80’s, folk, some rock/punk, Contemporary Christian, selected country

Books: Too many to list…

TV shows/Movies: Star Wars, Survivor, Entourage, Pan’s Labyrinth, Gone With the Wind
I also like National Geographic, Discovery, and Animal Planet. I watch the Weather Channel quite a bit, even if it’s just forecasts.

Instrument: pen or pencil

Do you like sports? I like to watch sports (baseball, hockey) but I hate to participate in them.

Clothing: Hahaha…if you ever saw Zoolander with the “Dereliquict” fashion all the bums wear, that’s my style. I’m trying really hard to be more fashionable and match clothes. My metrosexual boyfriend usually buys my clothes for me and makes socially acceptable combinations.

How did you find this website? Through a search engine

Job: Teacher assistant in the special education study

Plans for the future? I am hoping to teach art/cartooning, publish a graphic novel, get my books published, and create my own tutoring business

Any comments? I would love to hear the experiences of other “mutants”. My favorite X-Men is Nightcrawler.

Upon examining your CV, we find it quite acceptable.

We actually were looking for someone who at leasts 'likes' math, but considering your other strengths I have to say...

WELCOME! :D

Welcome Lortiz,

Welcome to the mutant homeworld. We have to get the "You may be like me" shirts out.

I am in all that art and writiing and publishing stuff, an obsession with range.

Being a machinehead I do production. We have an autistic artistic street gang.

There are places here, called arts for some reason, to post your work, and threads about the pen and paper obsession.

See you there!

Welcome.....

We have some over lapping interests. One of my obsessions from 5-15 was Christian Science and I still find it fascinating even though I dont "practice any more".If you ever want to chat about it,feel free to PM.I dont consider myself Christian but Mrs Eddys philosophy is very interesting.Loved the book "Illussions" even though the chirch was not very fond of the authors take on CS,lol.

Hope you enjoy your stay here.
