My son was diagnosed with Aspergers which led me to be diagnosed with it also.

This is a cool site.

I always had thought that I was just shy and a social misfit with a very bad temper. I even got a job working with people in order to try a "self-therapy" to end my "shyness". Now I know why that was so terrifying. Working in a restaurant and being forced to interact with people that wanted to make small talk and communicate for no reason other than to open their mouths. I did meet my wife there though. Everyone thought that I was strange but she thought that I was cute. Although she has a hard time dealing with me now that my cute-ness has a name attached to it--Autism. Aspergers would be more exact. I like computers because I can communicate without talking or seeing anyone. I guess if everyone thought and acted the same way...that life would be boring. Does milk, cheese, and dairy affect everyone else here the same as it does me-make's it hard to focus, make's me angry, makes my thoughts cloudy? Just thought I'd ask.

Welcome to WP :rendeer:

I would find working in a restaurant terrifying too!

For me its the other way around, I was diagnosed 6 months ago and now my older son has been.
I always knew I was different, but never knew why until diagnosed...

Welcome to WP.

I was diagnosed because of my son too.

It's great to have a name for the condition but it's also sad to find that some of the things that made you "special" have a genetic cause.

Welcome, Mid-Life-Aspie. My son and I are both diagnosed, but this merely confirmed our long-held suspicions of being somewhere on the spectrum.

When I was in my 30s, I tried some exclusionary diets, and at one time or another I might have abstained from any or all of: wheat, dairy, animal products, alcohol, foods containing high levels of salicylate and/or amine, foods containing additives and preservatives, and products of yeast fermentation. With the exception of alcohol, it made little difference to my mood and mental function whether I ate these things or not.

Hello Mid-Life-Aspie

welcome to WP :!:

I am vegan so don't eat dairy products. When I used to eat them though, I felt the same as I do now, it has made no difference to my moods or focus.

I would never work in a restaurant, so I congradulate you for even doing it!

Hi Mid-life,

Welcome to WP :D :D

We aspies are very sensitive in many ways, and substance sensitivities, allergies, etc are part of the package. I have to keep de-toxing, but it's worth it.

I am also new as I just joined today.

I am in a chatty mood, which is unusual for me. You have an Aspie son. I have three NT children and one NT husband. The children I love but my husband is annoying. He feels the same way about me.

We will be splitting soon, and the two youngest will be living with me. This will make it easier.
