As a kid I said 'punkin' instead of pumpkin, and when mum corrected me I was convinced she had it wrong! I also do the reading thing sometimes, saying Hermyowny (Hermione), ockZIMaron (oxymoron... I didn't believe us stupid enough to have 'moron' in a word!), Jooun (Juan: meant all the jokes about 'seen Juan, you seem Amal' went over my head!), and of course, the word I had the most trouble with was profiterole. I wanted to say profriterole for some reason! I remember it now because it has 'profit' in it, but it still takes me a minute to figure it out before saying it, and it often comes out wrong!
Out of interest, did anyone here say 'aks' instead of ask, 'ickspeshully' instead of especially, or any other word like those? And did anyone used to (gah bad grammar!! !) finish sentances with 'but'? I.e. 'You could stay for dinner', 'I want to go home, but'.
