Hello All,

I'm new here and proud mom of 12 year old daughter with Asperger's. Even though she can be a challenge at times we're crazy about her.
Wondering if anyone has tips on helping her though some of the things that she really struggles with like personal hygene. She just doesn't get it. I can't for the life of me understand the wearing of the same clothes day after day. Mind you, we don't LET that heppen but hey, the kid is about 100x smarter than I am so sometimes she finds a way. Is it just a personal comfort/saftey thing?? Any thoughts?? Any other moms or dads of teenage (aspie) girls out there?

Thanks

About the changing clothes thing, we have a topic about it in the teen section that might provide some insight: http://wrongplanet.net/modules.php?name ... pic&t=7286 :)

We (people with AS) tend to be very logical thinkers. If you can logically explain to her why personal hygiene is important, that might help.

Besides that I don't know what else to tell you. I also struggled with personal hygiene when I was her age. Trust me when I say that it will get better. Eventually she will figure it out on her own, it will just take longer than it does for other kids.
