I have lurked on the forums for weeks, and made a some posts. But I might as well introduce myself, so I would not be considered a ghost.
I'm new here. I was diagnosed with asperger syndrome while I was in the 9th grade of high school. During that time I was constantly harassed by half of the entire school there in Prince Georges County in Maryland because of my speech impairment. It took a horrible incident mid-October for my mother to pull me out of school. The actual diagnosis took place after then. Between the time I transfered schools (which lasted a month), stayed home, posted on GameFAQs forums and playing video games.
The rest of the 9th grade, which was another school in PG county it was over the same crap because I wore a bookbag with a pikachu during 7th grade. I took it off hoping it will go away, but the name stuck and returned when I transfered schools. And apparently these idiots never grew up and let bygones be bygones. My GPA was around 2.0 and my grades were C
s and D's, with the exception of Japanese I which I got a B in the course. If it was not for the teacher there, which was a male, I would be considering dropping out or suicide (which i have thoughts of suicide) . I got suspended from school twice, for assaulting one of those teenage brats and gave a reference that another Columbine incident would occur.
I kept telling the school administration, but they kept telling me "to ignore it, it will go away", but it kept escalating, for my mere presence drives their hatred. Years later, I realize what they really mean: "I don't care." They did not really care about bullying, just their reputation and their test scores they have to pump out for No (Rich) Child Left Behind
After the 9th grade I was transfered to a high school catered to those with autism and AS in Baltimore. My grades were much improved, and I was never harrassed again because of their active enforcement policy (it's like zero tolerance but without the mandatory minimum)against bullying. Now I'm studying politics and government in the University of Maryland, College Park.
I'm an African-American with several interests other than rap or church. I listen to a variety of music, I'm an metrophile, japanophile, and bookophile, and a otaku. also I'm a big fan of the Law and Order series. I'm also a libertarian socialist (social libertarian, social and economic socialist )
Did I mention I'm a introvert, and my social life is mostly in the otaku community (via conventions and online), the internet, video games, and in an anime club in DC and in my university.
