Squirrels, what's not to like about them?

They're inventive and NEVER give up when they focus their minds on something they want. It can seem almost obsessive how they go about getting into my bird feeders I have at home...no matter what I do to discourage this behavior. They even have their own feeder but still stubbornly choose to eat the birds food, too.

They like to irritate the wild birds, my cats and my dogs, shaking that bushy little tail at my dogs and making that odd little barking sound until I think my dogs will go stark raving mad.

They get into such crazy situations that I just can't help but adore them. I suppose I can relate to all of the things they do.

At work a few months ago, I began feeding a squirrel and now, it's at the door "begging" for food at the same time each morning. My boss swears it knocks when I'm not there. My co-workers are amazed that this little sweetie seems so tame (it would eat out of my hand, if I'd let it) but I know in my heart that I understand this little creature which, I suppose, makes me only a bushy tail away from being just like him/her

We have a motorized bird feeder with weight sensors that will fling off anything that weighs as much as squirrel. Its fun to watch squirrels being catapulted across the yard.

It gives a whole new meaning to the name Flying Squirrels

I have a question though....like cats, do squirrels always land on their feet or do they drop and roll?

I love the squirrels we have in our backyard. I make peanut butter sanwiches for them every day. I get field corn and stick it on a spike for them to eat also. Oh yes, we can't forget about the peanuts!!

About the feeders with the catapulting perches, i think they call them "Droll Yankee Feeders" or something. Don't ask me why!

In college, we had this huge oak grove that students would have to walk through to class, and it was a constant joke that the squirrels were "dive bombing" us with nuts. :-)
