I'm Matt. New to this forum. I was diagnosed with Asperger's eight years ago. Since finding out about this disorder I have worked hard at behaving "normally". I've been able to get quite a good hold on my AS over these past 8 years. I've also read several books about AS and how it affects those around us. These books have taught me a lot about AS and how to modify our behavior as to "function" like any NT or neuro-typical adult. As for my job, I've been a cashier at Wal-Mart for almost two years now. I've mentioned my AS to only a few people and they say I don't appear autistic in any way. Its finally good to able to converse with others who have AS since many people who have it aren't very vocal about it for obvious reasons.

Hi Matt and welcome to the wrongplanet. I have Asperger's too. A lot of people with it would rather act "normal," but I take pride in being me. I fit in enough with the world that I get by---like it sounds like you have too, but at the same time, people say I am eccentric. I know I am eccentric according to the standards of the rest of the world. Enjoy the site.
