What is your first name? Cary

Age: 63... God! I said it.

Location: California

Hobbies and Interests: Truth seeking with philosophical types

Why are you here? This seems like a place where I can find others closer to my own kind.

When were you diagnosed? I diagnosed myself when I learned of the symptoms - last night.

Favorite subjects: epistemology & other philosophical head trips, history,

Year/Grade: Huh? I have a bachelor's degree if that's what you mean.

Favorite music: Not any more. I think better in silence.

Books: I used to like C.S. Lewis. Now I find him wooden. I just use books for research.

TV shows: history & science channels
Movies: 2001 was my all time favorite. I saw it stoned 3 times - I think.
Now I like the biggies like Star Wars & Lord of the Rings & Harry Potter. Also the discussion worthy ones like Gone Baby Gone. Others like Schindler's List, Flags of Our Fathers, Saving Private Ryan.

Instrument: no talent for it.

Do you like sports? Yeah, chess.

Family: Pretty much dead, except for a cousin back east

Clothing: thrift store

How did you find this website? Googling around

Job: I have a janitorial company that gets me by.

Plans for the future? to keep on trying to figure out God

Any comments? Yeah!
I don’t think Asperger’s syndrome is a malady or a disorder or even an accidental aberration. I think it's the next step of human mental & spiritual evolution. At least our demand for justice would indicate so.

Is there a place for theological Aspies?
I think a just God is the next step in theological evolution:
A just God is the next step after a grace dispensing God: Christianity,
which was the next step after a legalistic God: Judaism & Islam
which was the next step after an amoral God: El, god of Canaan
which was the next step after polytheism.

And I self-published a book based on this position before I ever heard of Asperger’s.

Interesting. I have had different people telling me that theology would suit me well. I majored in psychology and my final essay was about the consequences of the fundamental need people have to believe that the world is a just place (where peope get what they deserve and viceversa) so this idea of a just God as the next step in theological evolution sounds really interesting.

I have always been VERY interested in religion and philosophy and fine literature that relates to those. This has extended into the poetic realm, as well. I believe in God......Until this past year I always had a 'very!!strong' spiritual sense at the forefront of my 'experience' and thought patterns (my library contains LOTS of philosophy, religion, non-fiction, and art books).......but now my 55 yr. old female mind/body is whacked out by something, and I don't actually feel like myself any more. This includes my old philosophical-theological zeal.............poof....where'd it go.....I suspect my pineal gland may have atrophied......... I am seeking answers for this sudden drop off a cliff and as I fall slow motion in mid-aire........I seem to have a bit of time to speculate. It all started in August....and I wonder if my Adrenals are busted, among other things.

Philosophical-theological zeal totally requires people to talk to who are WORTH TALKING TO as you understand the term.
Do you have that? If not, have you been looking for it?

In the left column under my nickname, it says Emu Egg.
Why does it say Emu egg? I never told it to say Emu egg.
I bet one of those abbreviations I didn't understand in the profile setup told it to say Emu egg.

I can think of cooler things to say than Emu egg. Can somebody tell me how to get the Emu egg out fom under my name?

Answer to 'do you have that?': Sometimes.

Answer to 'have you been looking for it'?: Not lately

Welcome! Though I'm relatively new here too.

Yes, I love to talk philosophy. Rational empiricist here.

My not wanting to sound egotistical is the only reason I don't suggest outright that Asperger's is an evolutionary step forward. But I do think in many ways it's our brains lurching this way and that, struggling to adapt to our whizzing-at-the-speed-of-light technological world. Like other steps in our evolution, it will likely take a lot of missteps before the new path straightens out.

On theology; we may well meet on the religion/philosophy section of the forum. I see no more evidence of the existence of a conscious, poking-at-us-like-ants-in-an-ant-farm god(s) than I do for the famed teapot-in-outer-space (I tell you there is a teapot orbiting the sun between Earth and Mars, too small for our telescopes to pick up. Have I sufficiently proven its existence to you?).

Welcome to this planet!

- Jo
