Hello to all members of the Wrong Planet community!
I'm a new member here, so in true new member style, here's the obligatory 'all about me' post.
My name is Andrew and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm 18 and I finished high school last year (thank goodness). Currently I'm studying for a Bachelor of Music, majoring in musicology. It is my ambition to become a research musicologist (and has been since I was 7 years old!!). For those of you who don't know, musicology is the scholarly study of music (i.e. music history, manuscripts/interpretation of composers' works, music as a part of society and culture, etc.)
I was diagnosed with AS in 2003 after a very long and painful period of illness, but since then life has been much better. I had a highly modified/accelerated academic program at school, which also allowed me to indulge my other special interests of science (particularly evolutionary biology) and history!
I have studied piano since I was three and a half years old and will be completing the Licentiate in Music Australia (LMusA) Diploma later this year. I love to read and find out new information, compose music and write (currently I'm working on a book about AS but it is going very slowly!).
This is my first time posting on a forum like this, so I kind of feel a bit weird writing about myself...but I look forward to being a part of Wrong Planet and getting to know other Aspies here.
Thanks for reading!
Andrew
