Hello to all members of the Wrong Planet community!

I'm a new member here, so in true new member style, here's the obligatory 'all about me' post.

My name is Andrew and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm 18 and I finished high school last year (thank goodness). Currently I'm studying for a Bachelor of Music, majoring in musicology. It is my ambition to become a research musicologist (and has been since I was 7 years old!!). For those of you who don't know, musicology is the scholarly study of music (i.e. music history, manuscripts/interpretation of composers' works, music as a part of society and culture, etc.)

I was diagnosed with AS in 2003 after a very long and painful period of illness, but since then life has been much better. I had a highly modified/accelerated academic program at school, which also allowed me to indulge my other special interests of science (particularly evolutionary biology) and history!

I have studied piano since I was three and a half years old and will be completing the Licentiate in Music Australia (LMusA) Diploma later this year. I love to read and find out new information, compose music and write (currently I'm working on a book about AS but it is going very slowly!).

This is my first time posting on a forum like this, so I kind of feel a bit weird writing about myself...but I look forward to being a part of Wrong Planet and getting to know other Aspies here.

Thanks for reading!

Andrew :D

Welcome, Andrew! I'm Justin.
The weirdness I think is common when you end up writing a little autobiography for people you never see with your eyes. Good luck with the book. The study sounds very interesting. Any certain composers you are infatuated with by their work.

Hi Justin. The study is interesting, although not really at the moment (because it's fairly easy stuff  ). I have a special interest in 20th century music- particularly the music of Debussy- and at the moment I'm also busy researching some lesser-known pieces by J.S. Bach for a recital program.

Although I don't know too much about the composers, I always find people who have a passion for what they do important in life.
I think I'll post one of these auto-bios.

Hi all,
I am from the Central West of NSW and have been diagnosed with Aspergers since late last year. Prior to this, they thought I had Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I still ahve regular panic attacks.

I am 25 and have a IT degree and am currently working on a Juris Doctor in addition to working part time. I have trouble working full-time, I seem to get "overloaded" easily and end up getting severely agitated. I like to work by myself in my office with the door shut, somewhere where it is nice and quiet and there is few people around!

I hope to talk to you all some more soon :)
