Hi, I'm high-functioning ASD. I haven't bothered getting a more precise diagnosis for now as dealing with the health system annoys me! One size doesn't fit all...
On the more positive side, a lot of questions are getting answered, finally, and I'd like to discuss with others who have similar things to consider.

Hi welocme, I agree those of us on the autism spectrum are as diverse and different as those that are not, its just we often grow up not being allowed or understood.

I live in London until 5 years ago, only discovered aspergers about 2 years ago... but at least in London you have the NAS and up to date diagnostic teams, not like in NZ

Hi Groovehound and come in and join us!

I got my diagnosis in London. It was a summerday 8½ years ago now and the sun was shining. I was walking down the Oxford Street afterwards and it felt like everybody around me looked at me because it was written I HAVE ASPERGER SYNDROME!! ! in my forehead....that was a weird feeling to be honest. It took me years to balance myself right in the diagnosis after that day!

I thought a long time that this is main problem of dealing with the NHS. In the meanwhile I handle the NHS more in a way like Franz Kafka's "Before the Law".

I wont be surprised if there is someone with AS from where i live, but what difference is it going to make, really in the grand scheme of things? Zilch.
