Assuming a belief in some higher power and for the sake of this post assuming it is a single diety or God, if you met said God what would be the question you would most want to ask him/her/it?

Sounds like the sort of question that would be asked on South Park....

anyway...

Why the hell don't you make yourself known directly?

You sure got some sloppy technique for accomplishing your objectives. Is that really the best you could do?

Somehow I didn't expect these questions but then I didn't know what to expect.
My personal thoughts are
How does one know if they are good enough?
What is the standard of good for an imperfect race?
The ambiguity of God is something that was easily explained away for me
God gave man free will assuming man could use it wisely but Satan wants man to use it with foolish egotism to make God appear foolish (Job chapter 1, Matthew chapter 4, Genesis chapter 3 are good examples of where to see the implications of this theological theory)

I'll ask why send people to an eternity of hell based on a lack of belief when there is so much suffering (and sin) occuring in the world?

I never believed in hell I forget people are taught that. I was taught the dead are simply dead until a resurrection

What is the best question I could possibly ask you, and what is the answer to that question?

I had a chance to ask this question. My question was: Why?

The reply was, "Why not?"

Someone overheard our conversation, and has exploited it for a very annoying and bad ad series promoting spending frivolously on cruise line vacations.

Yes, my sense of humor is very dry.

I would ask why there is no world peace. Or maybe what planet the nearest aliens live on.
