..I decided to give it a try -
although I don't ever know what to tell anyone about me (not just here, of course).
There's that.
I also realize I'll never know if I'm not willing to take some risk. So then:
I live in a very small town, located between two cowpats. The fact that I don't fit in may not be connected to it.
Since I was about five years old, I felt displaced. I was unable to understand the system and, as a matter of fact: It hasn't changed a bit.
I'm still wondering if there isn't someone who doesn't need an explanation for everything. It would be nice for once to communicate with someone who actually understands me, and vice versa. It seems to me (according to your posts) this could be the right place to ask for something like that. If I'm wrong, take my acceptance for granted.
At least: I'm a happy divorced female and not looking for a new commitment (in case you feel threatened by my inquiry). I'm not lonely at all, just tired from all the musts, the needs and the rules on this planet and about all of that, once in a while, quite desperate. I would love to put an end on it. If you know, and if you may, please.

welcome home, sempertemper. When I found out about Asperger's syndrome (and was subsequently diagnosed) I felt like I had died and had a little chat with God, but when I came to WrongPlanet.net, I felt like I had walked off the Mother Ship in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" I hope you will hang around and make it your home, too.
:D

Hello sempertemper. I noticed I was different when I was 6. Always had an overactive imagination, and nobody understood me at all, not even my parents. It's nice to relax in this forum once in a while. Many people just like me looking for an intellectual discussion.

Well, I view autism as a gift from God rather than a curse or burden to NTs. :D If the world can only see that and not strive for nomalacy everyone would be on the safe side instead of a bunch of xenophobes purging anyone not like them.

Hope you like it here. :D

...for noticing my post. I'm glad I was able to reach you out there. It's a huge relief.
Now it seems the light at the end of the tunnel doesn't have to come from an incoming train ;-)

Sempertemper I was always alone and I never understood why. I never understood why nothing made sense or why everyone was so upset all the time. I found this place a week ago and it still seems like the world will never look the same. An island of peace in a world gone mad. Welcome to my happy place I think you'll find it nice here.

Thanks a lot for your kind welcome.

I intend to learn a lot around here.

I already feel better and I'm glad to be landed.

As a fellow undiagnosed adult, I can recommend a few books by adults who weren't diagnosed in until later in life:

"Asperger's from the Inside Out", by Michael John Carley
"Aspergirls", and others, by Rudy Simone

Welcome to the site!

I sympathize. Only recently have I realized that that's not what my life is supposed to be like. It helps a lot to know people who have had the same experiences.

I completely agree. Knowing there actually are others struggling like that had (and has) a calming effect on me.

My feeling with the new understanding of who I am and the myriad connections I am feeling on WP make me realize I am finally out of the woods.
It has been a long and twisted path - am 63 and this is really icing on the cake.
