Hello all! I'm glad I have managed to find my way to the right planet.

My name is Mike. I am 21 years old, and was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was 7. I am very interested in languages, particularly German and other germanic languages, as well as music of many kinds, and I can never seem to read enough books. My other passion is video games. :D

I have a question for the members of this site. I am gay, and to this day, I have yet to meet another Aspie who is also gay. I'm sure there are more, right? I'd love to hear your experiences of being both an Aspie and a queer. It's quite the fun life, lol.

I was hoping there was, because I have only met one other person with Asperger's in my entire life (well, at least that I knew had it - there are quite a few people about whom I have suspicions, but that is neither here nor there), and he is a strict Catholic who just entered the seminary. He would not approve of my queerness, fersher. But at any rate, I am so glad I found this website because maybe finally I can talk to other Aspies about their experiences and not feel quite so alone.

I really enjoy it here. Occasionally people butt heads but that's to be expected. I know from posts that there are a number of gay members here. I used to bar-tend in a little place that was known for it's diverse clientele. Once a guy was harassing two guys who were clearly a couple and were just trying to have dinner. I told him-It's OK to be gay here, it's OK to be straight. It's OK to be blue collar,it's OK to be white collar. punk/preppy/student/professor/dark/light/inbetween/atheist/spiritual etc. etc. etc.-The only thing it's not OK to be here is an a$$h@le. Pretty much the same here. :)

Hi Mike, welcome. I like German, too, but am pretty poor at it. As for Aspie queers, I am not, but I know that there are quite a few out here who are and who might be able to share experiences with you.

Daniel Tamment, the author of the book, "Born On A Blue Day" is also, gay. In addition, he enjoys languages very much, too.
Daniel has Synthesthesia, the ability to see numbers as "colors."

I believe you may find Daniel Tamment's books very interesting and enjoyable as you both appear to have similiar things in common. Check them out at your local library if you want to learn more about him.

If you visit the adult issues section, you will find that there are many here who are gay,or bi, in addition to the plurality who are straight. Some ahve suggested there are more aspies who are openly gay or bi than people in the general population, because we don't tend to feel all the pressure that most out in socitey do, and thus are more open with who we are.
