Jinxed it. The Kid's last day as a temp at this job (and she loves the job) is Nov 2. Dang. She bid on the job but they had a ream of resumes who had done the exact same job for like 20 years. Well, on the good side, she gets - hopefully - to move on to another temp job and will get to learn new skills, plus it gets her used to moving from job to job (aka dealing with change). And a paycheck is a paycheck.

lemon: what lovely fabric patterns those would make!

blessedmom: my daughter has a nickel sized scar on her hairline that looks like it will never grow hair again, but the huge triangle of pulled out hair around it is slowly filling in. She's happy with her life. Now I have two nieces being paid by the state to take care of her. For the second niece it's her first home away from mom and dad while she goes to college, so this is all a grand adventure for her.

In the last few months I've developed a trigeminal neuralgia, so if I did not empathize enough with my son with the ankylosing spondylitis, I do now. The pain comes to occupy your entire world. Taking tegretol now, which seems to reduce the number of episodes per day.

The state finally got around to paying my husband for all the welfare cases he's been doing for the past six months, so we are breathing easier these days. I went out and bought some boulders for the fourth rock garden I am putting together. The theme of this one will be california chaparral. The last one was endangered plants from the siskyous with ephemeral bulbs. The one before that was sages, penstamens, and, and, aphasia kicks in, the fleshy plants that grow on rocks with pretty flowers that are related to hens and chicks. We don't care for flat lawn and we need to put the dirt from digging out foundations for sidewalks somewhere. I think I may be making the house unsellable, but the neighbors sure enjoy my gardens. A woman hugged me for putting the food garden out in front where the sun is. And the neighborhood trusts me now when I lay out the many layers of cardboard for the lasagna method of gardening. Being surrounded by street or public park on most sides leads to lots of commentary on what one is doing.

Deacon Blues and Nan: I'm empathizing or sympathizing with how you hang on by your fingernails financially. Whew! And Spike cracks me up.

Popped in on a study break, and I find that Lauri's back! :D Welcome back, my friend!

Pretty patterns Lemon! :cyclopsani:

lelia - I hope the medication is helping relive your trigeminal neuralgia. If you need any help with that, please feel free to let me know! I'll get back to you next week (I'm in the middle of a 100 hour stretch this week).

Take care all!
Chuck

One hundred hours! THat's a long time to stretch. Should make you good and supple for all the bending you will need to do.

The tegretol works most of the time. I am relieved.

Because I refuse to go through all 1148 pages in this thread (in spite of my OCD): why is this an "ex"-café?

That's actually answered back on page 1... In short, there had been a Dino-Aspie Cafe, but there was some discussion about its placement in the forums (IIRC), and eventually the old Cafe was "destroyed" by the arguments. This new one was built on its rubble, and we've been hanging out here and welcoming new Dino-Aspies ever since. :)

(And I look forward to being thoroughly corrected by someone who paid more attention than I did, and remembers what the arguments were actually about...)

*Grabs a big mug of coffee and sits down, waiting expectantly.*

Waiting? Why? Godot is not coming back, the muffins have been thoroughly pacified (we're talking Roman legion style here, not rubber teat for little babies; just wanting to be clear), we put props in tunnel three, we defused the coffee percolator (lucky you, to get the timing just right), Lauri and Chuck have at least briefly returned from their sabbaticals... I don't think we're expecting any significant events in the near future. If you want one, you have to make it happen. We are open to suggestion.

On second thoughts, we are waiting for the return of Postie, but seeing as we have no prophecy about that, we only do a sort of low level waiting. We don't maintain a high performance level on this one. More a kind of loitering with intent.

P.S. You could legitimately argue that your arrival is a significant event, but we had no reason to expect that, so waiting for it was technically impossible. Anyway, it has happened, so now we can't wait. It is very important to get these things right. Otherwise you can wait forever.

100 hours, Chuck????? I'm with Nan on the dispensing..... sure you still know your Celexa from your Celebrex and Halcion from Haldol???? 8O

Lucky ME!! Got the job at the department store, thankfully NOT as a cashier, and promptly caught H1N1 from my children. Had to cancel my first day of training on Tuesday and am now waiting to hear back on when I can start. Luckily, the virus hasn't hit me too hard so far but I'm mega dosing on the Vitamin D3 just to be on the safe side. Since I'm housebound I've taken up sewing flannel pj's for everyone in my house.... starting with lil' girls purple penguin pyjamas. Somehow my purple penguin pyjamas started quite the ruckus on Facebook that resulted in an anger management program and study.... Perusal of the Purple Penguin Pyjama Prisoner and Terrorist Pacification Program. Yep, I'm rubbing off on the NT's who've unwillingly stumbled upon my profile. Mwuahahahahhaha!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the fabric, Lemon! You are such a talented lady!

Gromit, how good of you to take care of the coffee and muffins! I'm sure they'll NEVER be the same again!!

No worries! Actually, I was hoping that someone might drop by and feel like chatting (about *my* interests, of course ;)). HA!

I'll take in the scenery, though, because that's really my fave thing to do. Anyone need any painting done? I love decorating, as well...

There is a significant event! That didn't take long. Do tell us more.
