hi :D newbie here! fascinating site! i was diagnosed with ADHD has a child, rediagnosed a few years ago, now I'm under assessment for ASD, I'm sure they will find a few more acronyms to assign me in due course 8O things are starting to make a little more sense now, at least, the confusion is making a little more sense now  will see what comes out of it eventually i guess

*waves*

I've got a few obsessions, Music being the main one, I compose for Piano, aswell as producing EDM, the other one is Ants, got a website about them (aswell as a collection of random exotic species), although the db is nackered at the moment, so i wont bother posting a link. i'm also an artist, mainly psychedelic photorealistic stuff :D

Hi,
Yeah, truth be told, I love ants. While camping this fall on Mt. Monadnock I spent several hours watching a large solitary ant digging a burrow under/into a pine root. It would head in an inch or so, back out , turn around, take several steps, and spit out a piece of wood, turn around 1 1/2 times and head back in for the next bit. It was the highlight of my camping trip and I truly fell in love with the creature.

two of my favorite ant sites:
http://www.antbase.org/
http://antweb.org

It is liberating to me to discover that it is possible to turn an obsession into an interest, and there is not only room for it in the world, but fellow enthusiasts.

sounds like you were watching a newly mated Camponotus queen digging her first nest? :D i'd love to see that! in the UK we have a rather pathetic 42 species, none of which are particuly exciting, doesnt stop me following them around for hours tho, much to the frustration of whoever i'm with hehe

I love both of those sites! :D

Ants really are fascinating creatures, esp as super-organisms, I think they have allot to teach us to about how life 'works'
