Hello all,I have a ten year old boy who I always knew something was up but never knew what.My sis has a son diagnosed with ADHD and she is in the process of having lots of tests done and they think it is Aspergers. She tells me all the questions she has answered she says I could answer yes to many of them if I were being asked them of my son.So I guess it sounds like we are on the road to finding out why life can be so difficult for my son at times.Today we took all 3 to the local park/swimming pool.I have another son and a daughter. My oldest would not go in the pool, just wandered around alone and was very uncomfortable and did not want to see anyone he knew or anyone new. This is common. My first instinct is to gat frustrated at him.Since I have begun to think there may be an actual reason,I am more patient with him.I am here to read other stories and talk to other parents and adults who may have gone through what my son is going through.

PLEASE - get an evaluation done as soon as possible. My son was about 10 the first time we got professional help, and it's been a long and winding road. I'm sure lots of people here can confirm that middle school/jr. high can be a complete nightmare if no one understands you. There are lots of things you can do to help him and yourself. The teenage years are tough for kids and parents - you're going to need all of the understanding you can muster.

make sure you get an eval on him.. he needs help soon.. and its mind changing when you know and see all those things you ignored are really AS traits. i am a lot less impatient than i once was.. knowing what i know now makes thing CLICK! you know it always helps when you have insight from other parents and persons who have AS. hop on to the parents discussion forum and you will also find a ton of parents who have been there and done that. and also kids with AS who really give you major insight... welcome enjoy your stay here.... its been mind opening to say the lease here..

Be sure to let him know that you love him, "Warts and all", because that would have made my Childhood a lot easier.

Welcome, by the way. :D
