Im a newcomer. I have read alot of the discussions on this forum, but I finally decided to join today.
I would consider myself a Neurotypical which is one of the reasons for my hesitation to join.
The reason I'm joining is the more and more I read on this forum the more I realized even If I dont have AS I have the same kind of mindset or inclinations.

I took the Myers-Brigs personality test and got INTP. The second highest group on the poll.

I am introverted and socially awkard though I do have a lot of friends. Though I like to be by myself after awhile since I hate carrying a conversation and wish I could be alone with my thoughts. Once I get something I master it. These are sysmptoms of AS your could say from my internet researching which I have done a moderate amount of. Not just reading wiki and calling it good. But Im unorganized I am not repetitive and just see myself as a computer nerd? So with that I realize I would actually like advice. Also Im not doing this just because I realize I have a few of the symptoms its because Ive always been called "odd" or "weird" for how I socially interact, my interests, and how I think things over.

I guess I should describe who I am.

I am 17 yrs old.
I live in Iowa in the US.
I like computers, reading, and running.
I am here because I would like to know more about AS.
Favorite subject would be the online programming class Im taking. JAVA
Senior in high school

Music: Metalcore genre and Techno in general (House, Trance, Psychadelic Trance, Progressive, Hardcore)
Bands from each genre would be metalcore: COB,All That Remains, Scar Symmetry, many more.... techno: Tiesto, DJ Toxic, Infected Mushroom, Darren Styles, Armin Van Buren, Above and Beyond, etc.....

Books:
Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow my two favorite books of all time.

Movies: I dont watch tv much
Zombieland, Watcmen, There Will Be Blood

Instrument:
Trumpet

Sports: Running
Family: Decent sized

Clothing: Dark clothes like dark green and black. Some lighter colors for running.
I found this website while trying to find out if there were people who were introverted as me.

Job: I work part time at a Toyota dealership.
Plan to join the National Guard and major in Computer Science or IT haven't decided yet.

Maybe you could take the Aspie Quiz, etc. those are neat. My, I think NT husband took them and where he didn't score in Autism territory, he did score somewhere in the middle between AS and NT. I think you can be NT with Aspie traits. Either way, enjoy your stay

I lived in Iowa City for a little while.

Cool. Iowa City is not that far from where I live. I dont travel there much, but its good to know theres people out there.

that's funny, I'm an intp as well. Not in the spectrum, but strongly suspect my child is. My uncle says he and my younger brother are most likely in the spectrum as well. I think intp sometimes get accused of being AS because we don't always pick up on the cues others give us. I think it's more like a trait than actually being AS per se.

That might be true very interesting actually. I have a friend who definetly has AS, but has never been diagnosed nor have I talked to him about it, but its become more and more obvious to me. We get along and have some same interests namely techno though we differ on subcategories. Also my first girlfriend Im pretty sure now is AS since she has little emotional expressions, prefers little to no social interaction with peers because she doesnt get them which I understand. Shes also is insanely talented with the flute which she pratices for hours every day, but is not very good with words or math.

Getting off subject, but lol this gives me alot to think about and might answer some of my questions.
