hi, im a 35 year old Australian male with a 10 year old boy with Autism (DX @ 3yo) Its also very likely have aspergers, I've had a few professionals who are dealing with my son suggest a diagnosis for myself, but i have chosen not to proceed as i have a good handle on things (my wife disagree's) and i dont agree that aspergers is a disability, more like a different way of thinking. My son getting diagnosed and learning about ASD's has answered a lot of questions about myself and made me feel less isolated, until then i thought everyone functioned like this. apparently not.

I have been running a local asd online support group for parents of asd kids. (about 40 families)

i work in industrial automation and process control which totally suits my interests and visual thiking.

I'm interested to talk online to some other parents in similar situations as i am not great at free flowing conversation in "real life" unless its specific. I find email/forums etc. much easier

That's near the Ediacara Hills region isn't it?

Those fossils discovered there, are some of the earliest fossilized traces of "complex life" known on Earth. You're so lucky.

Australia is huge.... but a tour guide could take one to those hills :) (marked in blue).

I've read a lot about the Ediacaran fossils. They're beautiful, and scientists don't know really what they are... not exactly plants, but can't be animals (no defenses, no claws, no mouths) -- at that early time in earth history, there were only algae and fungi... some speculate those fossils were part of a "failed evolutionary experiment" and they don't know *what* those fossils were, and remain a mystery.

Anyway, what I've seen of Australia (through pictures) is beautiful.
