hello all. I'm new and recently found out I'm a aspie. I haven't been diagnosed, but I'm an aspie there is no doubt. My mom gave me the book "look me in the face" by Mr. Robinson and its me to a T. I realized it as I continued to read thru it. So when I was done I talked to my mom and she said I was never tested, because they didn't want one more thing on paper against me. I have ADHD and CAPD (central auditory processing disorder). I was in special ed from 2 grade untill 11th grade when I had all normal classes again. I always knew I was a bit different, but wish that I had know about asperger's since I think it would have helped me a bit, but I think I've done a good job of getting to where I am today.

I'm 29 and currently enrolled in the Audio Production program at The Art Institute of Atlanta. I have been going for a year now and I love it. I finally found what I want to do. Thanks for having this place. I'm going to get acquainted with the site. Have a great day everyone ^_^

Welcome to Wrongplanet. If you have Asperger's, than you may not have CAPD or ADHD. I read a book on the similarities of ADHD and Asperger's and they both have very similar symptoms. Also, teachers are trained to pick up on and diagnose ADHD and ADD but not Autism. As a result, lots of people are misdiagnosed with ADHD instead of Asperger's. I'm also pretty sure most people with Asperger's have trouble with auditory processing. From my experience, I often hear the other person just fine, but I always have to ask them to repeat what they said because I couldn't process it fast enough. Anyways, welcome and I hope you enjoy it here.

Hello!

It's nice to meet you. We are in Georgia as well. I've got three kids in the spectrum...sort of. The two oldest are Aspies and the little guy was dx'd as PDD-NOS but then they changed their mind. He's not NT, but they don't know what he is. I know he's awsome. What is Central Auditory Processing Disorder? My little guy has something wonky with his language processing, we just don't know what. He says words sound funny to him sometimes. He didn't speak until he was five. It's not a problem, just a mystery.

Anyway, nice to meet a fellow Georgian.

@YankeesGamer24 I agree with you. I have traits of adhd and that was the easy label to peg me under for adults when I was a kid, but honestly I hear everything everyone says. I don't agree with the CAPD diagnosis. I believe its all asperger's.

@Kiley I can't post links yet so just go to google and type "wiki APD" with out the quotes

@Everyone else thank you for the warm welcome. I'd like to become a regular here. Help and get helped. :)

So there are some things that have changed in me. Like I now like working in groups as long as I know all the ppl and am confident in there abilities. When I have to work in a group with ppl I don't know. I usally take charge right away and delve out the jobs. This is a important tactic, it will get the others to your side. If they make a suggestion that you don't like....pause or count to 10 silently and then Pleasantly and in the nicest way you can point out the flaws in there suggestion with subtly so you don't make them mad or cleverly find a way of tip-toeing them into your idea which most of the time will work better. I most of us are smart enough that if our plan isn't the best we can go with someone else's making it ours.

This is something I strugled with till my 20's and I'm still mastering the art of not hurting other ppl's feelings. And it is an art  I hope this is a starter
tip for others. If anyone needs or wants more data please just hit me up. If I can help any of you and save you some heartache then my job is done :)

Also any others find that you have to proof read everything you do because you leave out words like : a, an, he, the, she, is, or, etc. I do that all the time and now I just laugh at it and correct it. :)
