Might as well follow the flock and make my own hello thread, eh? What, being new here and all.

Well, let's start with who I am. I'm a 21-year old strait male in Massachusetts who enjoys history (all of it), writing, video games, computers, etc, and just being an all-around smartass. What's that? Nobody likes a smartass you say? Well, tough cookies.

Right now just trying to make something of myself, or more precisly figure out what I want to make of myself. I wanted to be a computer programmer at one point... then found I'm only so-so at it. Not good enough to keep up. But I'm a pretty decent writer and love history (and I absorb it like a sponge), so I went into that.

The fact that I dropped out of college because of some... academic problems involving my attendence. Or lack there of. At some point, I just stopped caring, and my limited social life kind of collapsed as I became more and more introverted and apathetic and asocial. The fact that I found the college social scene hopelessly confusing didn't help. I couldn't seem to figure out where to go to make all these friends everyone else seemed to make.

A year later, I'm trying to get back in and get over my malaise. While still hopelessly cynical, I'm going to community college and trying to rebuild my GPA so I can claw my way into a four year school for the bachelors.

Not sure what I want to do with my history major, as being prone to homicidal impulses around teenagers makes teaching tricky (I'm kidding! ... mostly ^_~), and I've got some long standing issues with the cloistered acadamic establishment.

We'll see.

As for what I've got? I dislike the way labels are thrown around these days, and the resulting list of connotations and assumptions you get for being branded with them. I was labeled as having ADD when I was about 11, and neither know nor particular care if my social ineptitude, eidetic memory, and tendency to become monomanically focused on tasks constitutes Asperger's or whatever. I'm just wired differently.

Me too. I had all kinds of labels attached to me.

You gotta love how ADHD is currently the cure-all diagnoses given to kids.

And even more so how eager some people are to get kids on medication.

Tell me about it. I was diagnosed before ADD/ADHD became a euphemism for being a 12-year old boy.

I could probably live without my medication, except for the fact that I'm chemically dependent on it now and breaking off would suck up about two or three weeks as I try to readjust.

Whoa, you've practically stolen my life 8O. I'm an 18 year old male from Massachusetts who likes game programming, has briefly considered getting into programming as a career before deciding I wasn't good enough, goes through the motions at college without caring much about it, and enjoys writing.

Anyway, welcome to WrongPlanet!

*goes off in search of more creeped out smileys*

Technically wouldn't it be you stealing my life, since I'm three years older than you? ^_~
