Questions about you
What is your first name?
Nick
Age:
26
Location:
Metro Detroit, Michigan
Hobbies and Interests:
Music, Comedy, Baseball Cards, Computers and Phones.
Why are you here?
That's a very deep question. Unfortunately I am not that profound at the moment.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
I haven't been diagnosed yet.
Favorite subjects:
How much people like me. I enjoy hearing that discussed most of the time.
Year/Grade:
Is this related to school? I never really did school.
Favorite music:
Wow. I like alot of stuff. I find Devo entertaining because of their work with awkward time structures and topic matter. Nas usually has very mentally stimulating lyrics, but his music can be lacking. The Flaming Lips are incredible to me. Tchaikovsky had some truly remarkable work, and I feel that his music combined with many regional folk traditions gave birth to music as we know it today. If Tchaikovsky were around today I think he would be similar to Philip Glass or Aphex Twin (I like both of them as well). I enjoy the way The Prodigy, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers and similar artists manipulate audio samples. I enjoyed the first 3 albums from Korn, and their first really struck me as something new because the use of a tuned down 7 string guitar playing a thrash style was very intriguing back than. Slipknot was a similar band of interest to me because of the thickness provided by all of their instruments, however they also became less satisfying. The White Stripes are great because Jack White is very talented but they still take a minimalist approach to the music that makes them very unique. Hank Williams Sr. wrote some great songs, and I enjoy his use of slide guitar. Cody ChesnuTT is great in his diversity and roughness. I also thrive on the simplicity of The Ramones and think they were great. Nirvana was like an even more realistic version of The Ramones and they were great for that as well.
Books:
Print is dead.
TV shows/Movies:
Comedy, but definitely not of the Romantic Comedy type. Those are trash.
Instrument:
I play Guitar, Bass and very little Drums and Piano. I wish I played some sort of horn instrument. My best instrument is a computer though, easily. Anyone who doesn't think a computer is an instrument obviously has no idea what you can do with a computer now.
Do you like sports?
Basketball
Family:
Yes. I have one. What about them?
Clothing:
Baggy stuff. I like Neon Green alot.
How did you find this website?
Google.
Job:
I was most recently working as an Electronics Technician. I was dismissed from work a couple months ago for no reason that I know of. Then false rumors started flying around that I was a cokehead (YAY!), I think I'm done.
Plans for the future?
There is no future.
Any comments?
Uhmmm... Yo momma!! durr huurrrrr.

Actually you've been here almost 2 years.
Indeed I have.. and I botched my age I'm actually 24
What is your first name? Peter
Age: born in 1963
Location: northeastern USA; possibly interested in someplace sunnier and less humid, but not hotter, nor with shorter winter days!
Hobbies and Interests: genealogy, Native American affairs, Irish/Irish-American affairs, politics, journalism/media, history, religion (especially Eastern Orthodox Christian theology and spirituality), science, sci-fi, intelligent humor, Disability issues, psychology, international affairs, and more.
Why are you here? The more I learn about Asperger's Syndrome and/or "high-functioning" Autism, the more convinced I am that even a "mild" case explains most of the mysteries and frustrations of my life! Also, it's nice to be around people more like me, mostly for the first time in my life (even if cybernetically).
When were you diagnosed? (skip if you don't have a disorder): Not yet.
Favorite subjects: Religion/Ethics ("broadly" as well as "narrowly" considered), social/economic justice.
Year/Grade: M.A. in Religion earned 1998, most work for a second (different) such degree completed by 1999. One graduate school mentor wanted me to go for a Ph.D., but I couldn't decide what to focus like that on!
Favorite music: Classic Rock, Progressive Rock, New Age, some Classical, Irish/Celtic (all varieties), Russian Orthodox choral chant, some Folk, Blues, some Crossover/Contemporary Country/Western, Adult Contemporary (Where'd it go to die?! !), Beatles (together and apart), Smooth Jazz....
Books: Andrew Greeley (fiction and non), Native American affairs, Eastern Orthodox Christian theology and spirituality, history (especially implicating my family backgrounds: Native American and Irish/Celtic), Martian Anthropology , maps/atlases, Victoria Clark, Dave Barry
TV shows/Movies: Letterman, O'Brien, Ferguson, old Carson Daly (ie, "Last Call" Mark I), sci-fi, Mythbusters, Weather Channel, world/national news, comedy that isn't gross or mean, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Blues Brothers I & II, Men In Black I & II, Ghostbusters I & II, Northern Exposure, Xena, Hercules....
Instrument: rhythm guitar, bass, clarinet, tin whistle (beginning/by ear).
Do you like sports? When younger I liked intramural soccer, street/floor hockey, volleyball, jogging. Today I like watching hometown pro baseball, football, and hockey teams, Gonzaga U. basketball/March Madness.
Family: Parents, brothers, nieces.
Clothing: I don't do the "uniform" thing (not that there's anything wrong with that!), but I've never owned alot of clothing even for a guy, tho I think it's presentable/"Passing": polo shirts, decent bluejeans, sneakers or docksiders. My last job required longsleeve white dress shirts, dress pants, ties, ie, not alot of variety there. But I prefer short sleeves and open collar -- they feel less physically confining IYKWIM; even T-shirts are an issue, so I prefer V-necks if at all (and undershirts feel confining too).
How did you find this website? Wow: I don't remember anymore. Did I wait too long?!
Job: Receiving Disability in original contexts of stubborn Irritable Bowel and Major Depression. In '99 briefly trained as a portrait photographer. Between stints of grad school, served as HIV/AIDS caseworker. Originally worked as radio newsman.
Plans for the future? Some research suggests the above-referenced climate change might help both the IBS and the Depression....
Any comments?
Still just dipping my toes in this whole AS/HFA realm!
