Mornin'. 8)

Name's Catherine. I'm fifteen years old, decidedly female, and Scottish by extraction. I have a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome, which I received at the age of seven.
Aside from the fundamentals, all you really 'ought' to know is that, in accordance with what one might expect from the common-or-garden aspie, I bear a well-nigh pathological obsession with economics and Western philosophy.
I am, however, reputed for my unremitting indulgence in music, film and literature, so I'm willing to chat about all manner of stuff. :)

I'm woefully isolated at the moment, so any personal messages would be heartily appreciated.
In particular, I would be very keen to hear from those aged between, say, thirteen and nineteen, and those who are located in the Scottish Midlands (Fife, Edinburgh, Lothians, Glasgow, and so on).

Hi, and welcome to the forum. :)

I don't anywhere close to you, but I do love Scottland. Very beautiful place.

Music, film and literature you say? What genres?

@dryad, KyleTheGhost, JetLag: Ta. :wink:

@LilaAutism: Why, thank you, ma'am. 8) Very nice of you to say so. Means a lot, t'be sure.

@TechnicalPacifist:
Music: Essentially anything, but my favourite genres would be Western classical, modal jazz, and experimental rock (think Frank Zappa/The Mothers of Invention).
Film: The usual suspects. Science fiction, psychological thrillers and satirical comedies would be of particular interest. It's also worth noting that my appreciation for the works of the Monty Python troupe borders on the obsequious.
Literature: Classics. Chiefly classics of English literature, given that it's my mother tongue and all. I have been broadening my horizons of late, though. For the moment, Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground and Crime and Punishment would be my principal literary obsessions. Also quite enamoured of 20th century science fiction.

You?

When it comes to music, it varies. Pretty much anything. As for film, I tend to enjoy most genres - although I have a slight preference for historically-themed ones. In literature, I like most genres - especially science fiction and more serious fantasy.

Dostoevsky? I suppose that'd be Dostojevskij in Swedish. Began reading a collection of short novels by him a while ago.

What, pray tell, are your favourite sci-fi/fantasy works?

Are you Swedish, by any chance?

Yes. Swedish. :)

Sci-fi is hard to decide.. I'm not sure if I have any specific favorite. It's easier when it comes to fantasy - a little bit. Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard series, Nick Perumov's Keeper of the Swords series and George R. R. Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice are probably my favorites. Also: I can't believe I forgot to mention that I love post-apocalyptic fiction of all kinds.

:roll:

Welcome to Wrong Planet. We appear to be less than one year apart in age, and we also appear to have similar interests.
