I fit both traits, and wear both proudly, but especially my faith. To the above poster: I'd say the same thing about most other communities (MMA, video games, etc.) based on personal experience. I don't know about the market for those communities, but I'd be sure willing to give making an IF on the subject a shot if there was enough interest. I have experience with making and Admin-ing InvisionFree forums, as well as some experience with ZetaBoards, though I definitely prefer IF.

I am a Pentecostal Christian and I have Asperger's. I have written a book about being a Christian and having Asperger's. I am at the publishing part right now, but I have the PDF. If you want it I will be happy to send it to you. I wrote it to bless others so I have no problem passing it on... :D

Came to Christ in July 2010. Diagnosed HFA in 1999 (Since been re-diagnosed AS last thurday).

So, that makes me:
born 1969
diagnosed 1999
reborn 2010
re-diagnosed 2010

Go to Solid Rock (Downtown PDX) most Saturdays, Westside when I can.

Awesome!

What faith is it?

I am Pentecostal. If you have ever been in a room full of spirit filled Christians when the Holy Ghost starts moving, you know how noisy and distracting it can get! Sometimes it is very hard.

And everyone wants to touch me, hug, pray with me (while touching me), that is hard for me. I don't like to be touched.

I also have difficulties with listening to the pastor when he is preaching. Having the visual aids like the slides and sermon notes helps (I do much better with written things).

Do you have any difficulties in your church? Do you ever find it to be a barrier to your worship?

Thanks!

How large is your church? Is the congregation "active" during the service?

How do you handle the distractions (if there are any)?

I'm Christian, but so horribly unorthodox in my beliefs that I somehow doubt I count.

I'm an aspie, but I'm no longer a Christian (although I don't really think that was ever true).

Basically my status is fallen christian.

Well.. I have rejected several parts of the religion. Such as the entire Old Testament. The reasoning behind this is to actually make it all make sense, logically.

So yes, I'm essentially taking out the pieces I don't like. :?

I struggled with that too!

My husband explained it to me, though. He said that the Old Testament was prior to Jesus' sacrifice (died on the cross to pay for our sins so that we could have salvation in Heaven). When Jesus gave His life, the rules changed and many of the rules that existed in the Old Testament were no longer necessary because Jesus' act changed it.

It made sense then.

The God portrayed in the OT is far too petty and low compared to the NT for it to make sense, really.

I found this thread when I searched Christian Aspergers on google. I've really been struggling with loneliness and frustration due to the distance that forms between me and any other person who isn't my direct family. I try to form connections and it almost always goes wrong. I don't want to get into a discussion about why; I'm beginning to understand that now relative to aspergers. I guess I'm just looking for encouragement from other Christians with AS. It's 1:40am EST; I'm on a lot of caffeine right now (was out on a double-date with my hubby and my sister and her husband tonight and had a few cherry cokes). They're not Christians; but she's my only sibling and the person I am closest to.

Officially Self-diagnosed Aspie here, starting on the path to be diagnosed (I've got a neurologist's name and number I need to call sometime during working hours). And, a follower of Christ. Due to my researching everything I consider interesting, and my throughly read-through Bibles, I cannot say I'm a Christian because "Christian" is synomonous with "church goer" in today's language, of which I no longer am.

Yea, I know "Jesus said not to give up meeting together." And I don't. Not outside of a "church setting" it's just that a lot of the churches I have tried to attend are very clique-ish and legalistic, neither of which I can take. If you are truly a Son/Daughter of God, you are my friend and sibling in Christ and I'd love to chat... I just can't make it in a church setting... and I'm thinking my very likely having asperger's probably doesn't help that at all.

Other than not going to church, there are a few other legalities that most congregations follow that I disagree with, but the core of my faith, is the same I think. Jesus is my Lord and Savior and Friend. Without Him I'd be litterally nothing.

Hello I am very much so both these things:))) Jesus said my sheep hear my voice & they listen & follow me [paraphrased closely]. Jesus speaks to His sheep today. He also, to those who seek Him, reveals much and warns of the coming disaster, among other things. He corrects & removes all sin bondages from us. Praise Jesus!
BTW its not about church but a relationship w/ Him. I so learned this. you can connect w/ me on utube/nwkklown and fa(ebok/micayolo and fellowship with brothers & sisters in Jesus. bless u
