Hi everyone,

I have only been recently reading about Asperger's due to my graduate studies in psychology, plus I have a very close friend who I think is undiagnosed. I am trying to understand her on a deeper level, without always getting my feelings hurt, since she's not good with dealing with emotions, her own or others. She calls herself socially inept, and is very logical and rational in her thinking. I sent her one of the articles from this website, because the author sounded exactly like her, and she agreed. I wish she could join, but she's very introverted. So I am here, wanting to be supportive and sort out the feelings I have for her (she doesn't want any romantic relationship) without driving myself mad.

What feelings for her? Why does it matter if she doesn't want a romantic relationship? Why does it matter if she joins? By your post it sounds like she's okay with herself. There's little help for individuals with Asperger's in adulthood so a diagnosis is otiose. Your post makes no sense, frankly.

NT here. From what I read into your post, it seems to me you are trying to better relate to your friend and understand her better.

The AS brain and the NT brain are very different, and it does take some open mindedness and creative thinking to be able to understand how each others brain processes information, what each person really needs, and the actual intentions of what is being communicated. I have gotten a greater understanding of my son and husband through this website that has greatly enhanced everyone's relationships with each other. There are so many things that I missunderstood and took personally, and I have learned that I have been totally wrong about a lot of things. I often times asked questions, or read posts that I have printed and given to my husband to read and for us to discuss. It has brought us closer and it continues to do that.

Your friend doesn't have to join this website to benefit from it. If you see things that you think relate to her, have her read it and see if you are understanding her or if it relates to her and go from there.

You have come to the right place. There are really great people here.

Welcome!! !

buryuntime, the reason why I joined is because I care about an individual who may have this, as well as trying to educate myself. There's more to the story, so please don't make assumptions about her; I don't wish to disclose all details. Thanks for your friendly welcome

I didn't make any assumptions about her. By your very vague post I drew one conclusion.

Hi, Jac0511!
I'm also an NT interested in an undiagnosed AS person, my boyfriend. We have been together for 3 years, but I have become very recently aware about his certainly of his self-diagnosis. He will be evaluated for AS soon. He says he is 95% sure he has AS. I have read several books about AS and their descriptions of AS seem to fit his behavior quite well. I always knew he was different but I was not very knowledgeable about AS an the autism spectrum in the past. I'm new to this site and reading various threads on Wrong Planet has really helped me understand him better, and has improved our relationship, making it easier for the both of us. I wish you the best of luck in regards to creating a positive relationship with your AS friend and hope you get a lot of positive things from this site. :)

TY Karlita and AnonymousAnonymous. After reading some of the information on this site, I suddenly gained clarity and insight as to who my friend is, and explains alot of her behavior, which used to irk me, but now is an opportunity to be more understanding on my end.
