What is your first name? J. (legally changed) Seems people have too rough a time with ‘Janette’ or even ‘Jay’ so I shortened it to a single letter.

Age: Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway.

Location: Whodathunk Alabama

Hobbies and Interests: Hobby: Fighting back with corporations who think I’m a roll-over for that last payment overbilling and stingy insurance settlement payouts. Hardware: Home improvement projects. Interests: Problem solving. Money.

Why are you here? Lifelong perplexity over people saying I’m weird without explaining how. Each time I discover something new I think ‘Eureka!’, but on further exploration, I find there still to be gaps. This time: Aspie? It fits, but Geeze, it sure makes me a mess to have so many things.
I AM weird!

When were you diagnosed? (skip if you don't have a disorder): Not yet. I think maybe this time I’ll go find out if there really is a solution. My daughter went through school as ‘special intelligence’, never found out what that meant either.

Favorite subjects: Psychology, sociology, anthropology, architecture, nature, science, physics (in ordinary things), money, computer problems. Debating in my head- sociology of religion through history, the role of off-worlders in religion and what is paranormal phenomena.

Year/Grade: School? Failed my way to 11th grade. Completely autodidactic.

Favorite music: Almost anything not played on commercial radio.

Books: I used to be a voracious reader. I hate being called a ‘know-it-all’. (Doesn’t seem to annoy them when they have a problem for me to solve though.) I quit reading; I need fewer brain cells to get by.

TV shows/Movies: Mostly Sci-fi and Discovery channel: Mythbusters! The rest of the time I just sit and let the ‘tube’ suck out the brain activity.

Instrument: none. I wish I could sing.

Do you like sports? I’m a hypocrite: Sports are stupid…..Except for sailing!

Family: Only one sister remains.

Clothing: Whatever the weather requires.

How did you find this website? Wikipedia. Finding that AS is so prevalent among asexuals, I looked it up.

Job: Jeweler- Intense focus on tiny differences? Check. Obsessive attention to detail? Check. Do not have to play office politics-I’m just a necessary evil and it’s ok – nearly all jewelers are weird.
I also get to play with FIRE!

Plans for the future? None, I’m done. Breathing and taking up space.

Any comments? I’m glad to have found you. I hope to find here some tiny degree of socializing that is entirely absent from my world.

What is your first name? Tracey

Age: 30

Location: Leeds, England

Hobbies and Interests: Reading (fiction), Environmental issues, World of Warcraft, Cats, LARP

Why are you here? My partner has recently been diagnosed (while being treated for depression)so I was looking to find further information, but since reading up on AS, I'm pretty sure I'm also on the spectrum so want to find out even MORE info ;)

I've also gone "that explains a lot of HIS father's quirks too" - so looking up things that can help my partner understand the interactions between him and his dad too (a lot of the depression seems to stem from his undiagnosed AS and dyslexia as a child (and resulting bullying at school from pupils and teachers alike) and his father's undiagnosed AS which didn't make an ideal combination when neither of them understood why they didn't understand each other, when everything his father said was taken as law, even if it was a quote his father liked in a silly film or something - talk about confusion!)

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Self-diagnosed within last 2 years

Favorite subjects: Environment, Biology, Maths

Year/Grade: Completed A-Levels at school, now half-way through an Environmental Open University degree

Favorite music: Lots! :)

Books: Fantasy novels, light-sci-fi, criminology fiction

TV shows/Movies: Age of Stupid, Inconvenient Truth, Firefly, Buffy (tVS), Dollhouse, Friends, Star Trek :)

Instrument: Used to play Piano, guitar, clarinet (and recorder) and have singing lessons, but now I don't get to practice much... :(

Do you like sports? No! *shudder*

Family: Living with AS partner (together 6 years easter 2011) and our 4 adorable kitties. Have parents and a sister who live 100 miles "up north" near Newcastle and don't get to see them as often as I'd like

Clothing: Comfy, browns or blacks (occassionally purples) and "smart" for work, though I've got some nice t-shirt style tops so they're comfy rather than blouses and things. Lots of big comfy cardigans - my mam even found a "smart" one I can wear at work :D

How did you find this website? recommended on another website that was talking about AS - can't remember which one (was looking at a lot at the time)

Job: Admin at an Engineering Consultancy - my OCD tends to help with the filing - sometimes I think I'm the only person in the world who can enjoy being surrounded by bits of paper making sure they're all in order! :D Recently changed teams (still admin though) from Environmental Building Design to Transport due to my boss being a bully.

Plans for the future? Help my partner cope and deal with his depression to the point where he likes himself and realises he's as amazing as I know he is and hopefully live a long and happy life together in our amazing house with our amazing kitties (potentially children, but not to be discussed really until he's a lot more stable with his depression)...

Any comments? Just glad to finally be able to look at my quirks and foibles and realise that, even if they don't make sense to everyone else, they do make sense to a lot of people and more sense to me!

I'm seeing a lot of World of Warcraft and Star Trek coming in! I think I'm gonna feel right at home! It seems as right a planet as any. No My Little Pony though, but that's okay, more ponies for me! I love them as much as any planet's population anyway.

How did you find this website? My Mother showed me ...

Job: None to speak of.

Plans for the future? -sigh-

Any comments? I'm not as unhappy as I seem.
