Why are you here? Diagnosed with mild depression but I have doubts. I want to know more about asperger's in adults.

Why are you here? am here to connect with other people similar to myself, and my son, to gain support and offer my support to others, to find a place where my eccentricities are not frowned upon and where i can be myself without fear of how others will see me.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): i was diagnosed with dyspraxia as a child. my son had a diagnosis of aspergers when he was six and my doctor thinks it is likely that i also have aspergers although to get a diagnosis as an adult can be difficult and expensive, not sure i want to go through the stress,

Do you like sports? like going to the gym, body combat and zumba classes(though i dont have much coordination or balance)
and i like bodyboarding. (surfing on a smaller board which doesent require the balance or coordination of actual surfing)

Family: i have a nine year old son with aspergers syndrome. i have four sisters and 2 brothers. apart from one sister i think we are all on the autistic spectrum at various degrees. my nephew has also recently been diagnosed with high functioning autism.

Clothing: i dress for comfort,although i do wear the occasional eccentric outfit to cheer me up. wish i could wear what i wanted to honest, but my neuro typical sister would be embarrassed.

Job: i work at a charity shop as a volenteer, i was training to be a nurse, and did 2 and 1/2 years, but the lack of routine in the shift work didnt suit my son or me.

Plans for the future? im planning to volenteer at a special needs school near my home for 2 days a week, hopefully get the experience i need to get a job. 9-5 doing something i would love.

I don't remember myself when it was, but my mother has told me that I was once diagnosed as a child.

Year/Grade: I'm in third year in High School.

Plans for the future? Loads of. I have no idea how I'll have time for all of it! I'm first going to study more, go to university. It will either be something with art and design or architecture, or maybe languages, or it will be something about social issues or politics. I'm kind of getting interested in journalism now. Year/Grade: Graduated in 2006

Favorite music: Metal (especially black and death), electronica (especially house and glitch), psychedelic, jazz-fusion, punk (but not the traditional kind), post-punk, industrial (Mostly EBM), anything progressive and whatever else sounds good. My all-time favorite band is The Mars Volta.

When were you diagnosed? I was diagnosed when I was twelve years old. Didn't seem like a big deal to me. I didn't really face the fact until about... two or three years ago.

Les sujets de prédilection: Hihihi. Ça dépend sur quoi j'ai un intérêt à un moment particulier. Un peu tout mais de manière obsessive à ce qu'il parait!

Why are you here? To find out more about AS because my husband has it and I was recently diagnosed. Also, I have trouble making friends in person, and we've moved far from everyone I know, so I thought I might find some people like me here. Also to find some advice about parenting as an "Aspie"

Favorite music: I'll give any type an honest try, but my favs are Rock (punk, classic, grunge, new wave) and jazz or standards (like Billie Holiday, Cab Calloway, Louis Prima, Blossom Dearie). My fav bands are The Beatles, Pixies, Weezer, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Dead Milkmen, AFI (only the old stuff), REM, The Cure. I also have a love for Phil Collins that I don't quite understand.
