Hi all.

What is your first name? It's in my username. Hint: unfortunately, I'm not a pirate. Nor am I particularly dreadful (at least, I hope not).

Age: 28 next week.

Location: East Coast Suburbia, USA.

Hobbies and Interests: Reading. Writing. 'Rithmatic (sorta... mostly I just like to freak out math-phobes by calculating sales tax in my head). History. I do various crafty sorts of things like sewing, jewelry making, and years ago I designed a haunted dollhouse. Still haven't gotten around to building it yet. I love cats (I have two and will talk about them often and at great length) and dogs (don't have any, yet).

Why are you here? I'm pretty sure I'm an Aspie.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Not officially diagnosed.

Favorite subjects: Um, everything, which made picking a subject to major in for college difficult.

Year/Grade: I'd be a third-year junior if I went back to college... it's a long story.

Favorite music: I like music that I grew up listening to; it's comforting. Thanks to my dad's influence, that means rock from the 60s on. My favorite band is Pink Floyd. Last week I went to see Roger Waters perform The Wall. Twice. I almost never go to concerts, so that is a Big Deal.

Books: I'll read anything I can get my hands on. I mostly read fiction now, but I go on non-fiction kicks every now and then. I'm currently in the middle of Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea books.

TV shows/Movies: I don't watch much TV aside from Mythbusters, various science/nature/history programs, and the odd Sci-Fi show here and there (I <3 Doctor Who). The History Channel has begun to annoy me with all the pseudoscience crap they've been airing; it's all prophecies or aliens or Bigfoot... we have four or five thousand years of legit history, plus many more millennia of pre-history, and this is what they cover?! And don't even get me started on the Ice Road Truckers. Grr. </rant> As for movies, I enjoy good ones and love mocking bad ones.

Instrument: Piano. I don't like it when people listen to me play, though. Since there's always someone around, I never play any more.

Do you like sports? Not team ones. I kayak, hike, ride my bike, and swim.

Family: Parents (Mom's NT, Dad has some Aspie traits), younger sister (NT), and three cats (two are mine, one is my sister's). Both my sister and I are still living with our parents.

Clothing: For some reason I hate having sleeves below my elbows. Even in winter, I push my sleeves up without realizing I'm doing it. It feels weird to have my forearms covered... I dunno, it's a quirk. :-) I usually wear sweatpants or yoga pants and layers of tank tops, t-shirts, and hoodies. I hate dressing up unless I get to wear a costume.

How did you find this website? Poking around on Google.

Job: Self-employed. My job would be perfect, if it didn't involve working seven days a week...

Plans for the future? I have many, and the details often change. The jist of it, though, is that I want to be able to make enough money at a job that doesn't cost me my sanity to be able to live comfortably on my own (with my cats and future dogs) or maaaaaaaybe with a husband. I'd also like to move to a climate a lot drier than the bloody swamp I live in now.

Any comments? Haven't I blathered on enough already? :-)

Hopes for future: I'd really like to find some other Aspies to converse with esp. older folk who, like I, have figured out late in life what the heck about who they are. People who have had the experience as an adult of feeling like,
"You mean there's a name for this and other people who share these peculiar thought and behavior patterns?! Cool!" But also happy to hear from younger people who have grown up knowing.
Thanks for this web-site
