I am a new member of the forum...have been lurking for a while though. :wink:

I am an educator (Behavior Specialist) at a public High School. After reading that last statement...please don't file me in the "enemy" or "authority" box...I don't care for either of those labels.

I am an individual with exceptionality who works with students with exceptionalities. I was a special education student when sped meant "separate pupil (from the mainstream) and educate in the dungeon." I am a strong advocate for self-advocacy and self-determination. We really aren’t lazy idiots.

I also frequent some gaming forums...so I'm not sure it's possible to offend me.

Yes. I do recommend this site to my students. I am a firm believer that knowledge is power & there is power in numbers!

The biggest obstacle that my students face...they feel isolated & alone...having over 1,000+ other NT students around them doesn't make much difference...because 99% of those students don't "get" them...

1000 - that would be about 250 each year level? Is that junior high?

Schools are generally much smaller here.

Do you think bigger is better (more resources for special needs) or smaller, more personal contact, is better?
