What is your first name? That is one thing I won't be sharing on here.

Age: 31

Location: PA

Hobbies and Interests: a cappella ensemble singing of all types, choral music, conducting, harmony, music theory and composition, vocal pedagogy, history, wildlife, horticulture, growing exotic plants, psychology, learning from anything and everything.

Why are you here? I've recently been seeing a therapist for various reasons, and she told me that I might have Asperger Syndrome. I knew next to nothing about it, so I naturally started reading about it online and stumbled on this site.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I haven't been diagnosed with AS, but I was diagnosed with Tourettes as a child.

Favorite music: 20th century and contemporary choral music, any good modern/classic jazz, Broadway, big band, blues, salsa, Brazilian and Caribbean jazz, barbershop harmony, South African Zulu singing, Bulgarian wedding music, "early music" (medieval and Renaissance), a cappella vocal groups like The Real Group, The Swingle Singers, Take 6, Chanticleer, The King's Singers, Anuna...

Books: Any geeky non-fiction (history, anything musicological, psychology, the sciences i.e. physics, time travel, astronomy, geology, climatology, etc.), interesting and innovative self-help type books (VERY selectively)

TV shows/Movies: Shawshank Redemption, As Good As It Gets, Moonstruck, Dead Poets Society, Mr. Destiny, American Beauty, Office Space, Fight Club, Frequency, Mrs. Doubtfire, Breakfast Club, Primal Fear, A League Of Their Own, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Groundhog Day, When Harry Met Sally.

Instrument: I play almost everything, but badly. No, really. I am fairly good with the clarinet and sax. My primary instrument though, is my voice.

Do you like sports? I enjoy watching games occasionally and can enjoy playing them with friends, but I am not really into it.

Family: I'm single, with one younger sister.

Clothing: I wear clothes. :)

How did you find this website? Just doing google searches about AS

Job: Currently I have several. I'm a church choir director, a conducting assistant and singer in a professional symphonic choir, music director and conductor of a community choir, and teach studio voice, among other things.

Plans for the future? Quite a lot: finish my doctorate eventually and teach at the college level, publish some of my music, continually improve myself in every way I can, live someplace with no winter weather, have a mutually satisfying romantic relationship at some point, get my cattleya orchids to bloom, write a piece of music that brings at least one person to tears, and own an elephant. OK, maybe not the elephant...

Any comments? This is the kind of thing I'm doing instead of job applications...

My handle is Fieryhart.
I'll be 46 in a week.
I live in Southern England - by the sea.
I love dance, drama, music, singing, reading, writing, animals, nature, growing things.
I'm here because my son was diagnosed with ASD nine years ago, he's now almost 12, and I've had a growing conviction that I'm on the spectrum - I've just started reading Aspergirls by Rudy Simone and the book has made so many clicks with me I feel like an abacus. I'm looking for a place to share and learn with others who understand.
I've not been diagnosed and am only just now going to attempt to get a diagnosis - but I'm also wondering if the effort will be worth it - though I would really like to know, not just feel.
Favourite subjects - I love science fiction, science facts, all the arts, sociology, psychology, philosophy, languages, Asian culture
I received a BFA in Drama in 1988, and a certificate to teach ESL/EFL in 1991.
Favourite music - I love most music, as long as it's musical (to me - heavy metal/rock hurts.
I love books, fantasy, fiction, science fiction, poetry, plays (with some positive premise).
TV shows - Glee, True Blood, CSI, QI, Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, Nature/History Documentaries, Favourite films - Truly, Madly, Deeply, Dead Again, The Kids are Allright, Lord of the Ring, Fantasia, lots!
I play the piano, and I play tennis. I dance - ballet, jazz, modern, would love to learn to lindy hop.
Family - my mum and dad and big sister have passed, my brother's disowned me. I have a daughter13, and a son soon 12. Aunt, cousins.
Clothes? Jeans, comfortable shoes (trainers/cowboy boots). But I can and do wear dresses on rare occasions.
Rudy Simone recommended this site to me through FB.
Jobs - ah. I tried professional acting. Then taught ESL in China for ten years. Tried to teach Drama when I returned to England in 2001, but found the Secondary Students abusive. Since then I cared for my father and also my son - so not had a proper job for a while.
I don't really know what my plans for the future are - raise my children, provide for them, shine my little light somehow - not be so much of a hermit.

What is your first name: Shanice.

Age: 15.

Location: South west of England.

Hobbies and Interests: Drawing mainly, and Habbo hotel :$$$

Why are you here: Because it's nice being in a forum with people that's similiar to me ;3

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I think I was 5 or 6.

Favorite subjects: English and German.

Year/Grade: 10.

Favorite music: Heavy metal, rock, classical. I don't like 'mainstream' at all.

Books: Frozen fire, The vampire diaries, Harry Potter ( I have read the Twilight series and I disliked it. )

TV shows/Movies: The vampire diaries, CSI. NCIS, nothing much more really, I don't watch TV that often.

Instrument: Piano/Keyboard, sometimes I like to play the acoustic guitar. But my friend has to teach me a song as I don't know how to play it, it's far too complicated for me.

Do you like sports?: I like Tennis.

Family: It would be hard to explain this one in a way.

Clothing: Kind of emo-ish, I tend to say that I have my own individual style though. I like wearing shirts, ties, jeans waistcoats and shizz at the same time, I've never come across anybody else that's similar to that. I do wear clothing from "Blue Banana" occasionally but their clothing never comes in my size :(

How did you find this website: It was posted somewhere, I don't remember what site.

Job: I'm in secondary school still, but in the future I'd love to be an English teacher or a Psychologist.

Plans for the future: ^^^^^

Any comments: Not really no :P
