Have you considered fish oil? I have previously taken it and have seen results.

Actually, I think they are finding similarities between Autism and ADHD and one day it may even been listed on the Spectrum. As of now though, it isn't included. (Though personally I think it will be.)

Oh, and welcome, Alie!

Okay, thanks for giving me the chance to explain myself.

When I talk about "spectrum" I mean the Autist Disorder Spectrum. That includes Autist, Asperger's, PDD-NOS, and a few others I've forgotten now. It would not include the general population.

Your spectrum did include the general population, if I read that right? If it includes the general population, who does it exclude?

Thank you!

Oh, and about the Mercury thing:

Autism has existed throughout history, but vaccines with Mercury in them have not. Seems like an attempt to produce mass-hysteria to me, imo.

Cool, I don't do chat because of my dsygraphia but this is as close to real time as can be.

Yes, Omega-3 is a fish oil. I'm happy to hear you saw a difference. Do you still take fish oil?

BeeBee :)

Bee Bee- Thank you i understand now. While I was listing the "everyone included on the spectrum" spectrum, I have read that ADD/ADHD is considered by some medical professionals to be on the Autism spectrum but they are only the very tip.

Sophist- Thank you I believe that also. When it comes to autism and mercury, I dont believe that they have anything to do with one another.

I am angry that this Mercury thing is being promoted as well, because I know of parents who are not allowing their kids to be vaccinated because of this. And that is DANGEROUS.

It really truly is and to prove mercury doesnt cause AS

My next door neighbor refused to get her first son vaccinated until he was 6.
He developed AS and was diagnosed by 5ish.

Bee Bee- I do still take them and the difference is astounding! I hope it works for you!

By the by, excellent article on Vitamin Therapy on mental illness in this month's (April) Discovery Magazine. Not overly-sciency for those who aren't into science. But the article is basically that the scientific community is slowly coming to find that Vitamin Therapy isn't necessarily the hogwash it was once thought to be. After all, most prescription medications for mental illness are minerals in themselves (pssst, that's often called a "vitamin").

Thank you!

I do understand that with my being a 16yr old girl, my sources and information may make those reading it hesitant. But I do assure you that I am not just assuming these things. After all you know what they say about assume!

Ah, it took me a long time to consider that even books are subjective in their views (in that they present what they want to present). Personally, I think ADHD being on the Spectrum has some validity. I have a friend who is ADD and he is just as egocentric as I am. Plus, Autism and ADHD often occuring together (such as myself. I have a poor attention span). One main difference is that he is more fluid in social situations and they are enjoyable for him and a way to relax. I personally find them draining and am not quite so at ease in them. But, yes, I notice many similarities.

I actually have a book which is entitled Reweaving the Autistic Tapestry and talks a LOT about Autism and ADHD being part of a whole of connected disorders. It is a good book if you are interested in Autism and ADHD. There is another called The Autism/ADHD Connection which I have seen on store shelves but not yet picked it up. I intend to in the somewhat near future (so many books I own that I haven't read yet! hehe).

Thank you I really appreciate your willingness to help me.

Have you read "Right Brained Children in a Left Brained World"?

It is truly fascinating!

Ah, no. Sounds very interesting though. What is it about in general?

(Oh, and a good book to find for your paper on Autism in general would be Autism: Explaining the Enigma by Uta Frith.

I am actually doing a presentation in class on Aspergers tomorrow. I have a packet of info I put together for a handout for the other students.

It is mainly about ADD but it has some fascinating info about Autism and what ADD is. It is written by Jeffery Freed M.A.T. I really enjoy it and my mother went to see him speak at our local library when I was younger and she loved it.

Is there a possibility that I could get a hold of one of those packets?

Thanks
Alie

Sure. It is in seven pages. So I will number them and have to send them in a couple attachments (with the attachment limit on my e-mail).
