Finally a member of this site

Something i've been wanting to vent about...

I honestly think the word "aspie" sounds so childish. I don't like being referred to as "Joe is an aspie (usually accompanied with a cheap smile)"

Gives me the strangest feeling in the world, don't ask me why. I don't care if aspergers sounds like ass burgers, who gives a s**t. Just say something more mature like "Joe has Aspergers syndrome"

There's my two cents on that topic.

And another thing...

I don't like the name of this website "wrong planet". Coming from a person with aspergers, you'd think it's a name we could relate to but, in fact, I think if we WERE in a different planet, we'd all die.

I totally get that it's all an anaologic metaphor, however people (of all kinds) need to realize how lucky we are to be on this planet out of the infinite that surround us.

This is also coming from a person who has been dealing with depression and anxiety since 14 years old... You would think I would want to kill myself, but honestly why would someone want to do that? First of all it'd hurt like hell, secondly, we're just wasting our existence on this planet without even leaving a noticeable mark in our existence towards everyone else around us. I've always wanted to make a difference in this world.

Here I go with refreshing the page desperately waiting for a reply... again... at nearly 12:00 am EST

Another late night surfing the internet with no goal in sight. <-- totally didn't plan that rhyme.

I personally prefer pronouncing Aspergers with a soft g, or with a more proper Austrian pronunciation (aspairgairs).

Welcome to the forums.

Just thought I'd let you know, you're not the only one who cringes at 'Aspie.' I don't like the sound of it.

I don't like the word "Aspie" either. Asperger's works.

I don't think anyone on WP wishes there lived on Venus or Saturn instead of Earth. They just feel like they are from a wrong planet because they have hard time relating to people and also the sensory issues, among other things.

I hate it [the word "aspie"] too, but sometimes it's just quicker to type than "an individual with Asperger's Syndrome". As for the title "WrongPlanet.net", it reminds me of an episode of Arthur.

Anyway, welcome to WrongPlanet.
