I wish I could copy my title line for the entire post, actually.

I'm 27, female, finally diagnosed with Asperger's at 25. It took them several tries to get that right. There's been angst. It appears to be genetic in my family (my father, at least one of his sisters, probably my grandfather), which has resulted in multiple generations of extremely intelligent people unable to reach their fullest potential. My mother is like a Super NT, ex-Homecoming Queen, social freakin' ninja. It makes for an interesting dynamic.

For the first time in my life, I have been granted the time and space I need to deal with baggage and learn how to effectively work with, rather than despite, my autism to get what I want. This is all after a lot of testing, therapists, college dropping-out, failed work scenarios, and stop-and-start treatments, but real progress is being made and I'm grateful my family is giving me the chance.

I don't know what I'm looking for from this board...new connections, new perspectives, maybe? I just know I love to talk. :D

P.S. What's up with the OMG-let's-be-BFFs PMs? I've already gotten two from people saying they read my profile and think I sound wonderful and amazing and want to start a friendship/relationship with me...which is great, except for the fact my profile was completely empty at the time. WTF, mate?

Well.. It's nice to see someone on here I can relate to... which doesn't seem as surprising anymore considering it's a forum for aspergers/autism people.

Anyways, from a newbie to a newbie... welcome?

Why thank you! And no, probably not surprising, but since I started attending a program for adults on the spectrum, one thing I've discovered is how very diverse we all are...and yet how easily I see shades of myself in each of them.

Except the quiet one. Quiet people scare me. I'm working on that.

Greetings, welcome to the forums.

Presumably they are under the same train of thought as your post seems to be - however, they are more daring under the current context than yourself.

I understand. I have no offical diagnosis, but AS is somthing ive delt with my entire life, and continue to deal with. I have exactly 2 Real friends. both im lucky to have, because they refuse to give up on me. I'm curious as to how other aspies see life. I feel at home here, because no one judges me.

I'd be wary of those. Probably spambots or something. Report them.

Hi and welcome to WP! I cycle between talking excessively and not at all. I'll send you a PM. I am, however, NOT a spambot. =]

Thank you for the responses! The site's been pretty entertaining so far.

I found the spambot PMs hilarious, especially the non-romantic one. Were they planning on seducing me into coming to them for my R0lex and male-enhancing needs? Would the male turn out to be a prince...in Nigeria? Now I kinda regret deleting them. He could've been my One True Love, assuming I could pony up a couple grand to get his vast fortune untangled from bureaucratic red tape!
