Hello, all!

I am SO HAPPY to meet you on this site!

This is the first really good aspie/autism site I've ever seen. I'm so happy to have found it.

You see, I was on the internet back in the late 1990's and early 2000s, but, alas, all the supposedly AS/AC sites back then were all dominated by parents and they all were so filled with the "tragedy of autism/aspergers" lament, and everything on the sites was oriented only to the parents who had to deal with this "tragedy" and wanted to CURE it (us), and there was never anything on those sites for/by us acutal aspie/autistic persons, so I became pretty turned off and just stopped reading or visiting any of the sites for several years. Its so wonderful to find a site that is for and by US and filled with a lot of useful information too!

Ok, I'm an adult (over 40) female, diagnosed with aspergers about ten years ago by a child psychiatrist whom I was seeing even tho I was an adult. I live in the northeast, altho I have recently completed a truck driving school course and soon my address will be "whereever", USA.

I play the bagpipes. I am an off and on member of Mensa (mostly "off" since that is a social club!) I draw horses. I bet on horses, and generally win, but have never had the $$$ bankroll to do that professionally. I love animals; the love of my life is a Siamese cat. Like many of you, I have lost jobs, I have been tortured, harrassed, because of being AS. I have spent many years 'pretending to be human", and studying how to be a better pretender, with pretty limited success. Like you, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. ! !! !! !! !! !! ! NTs are beyond my limited ability to comprehend, and it is SO DIFFICULT being an AS person stuck in an NT world!

Its so great to come across an AS world, here!

Welcome to Werbert's Planet, Piper.

Our leader is Emperor Werbert I. Tinky is random. ShadesOfMe and I are vampires. Greyhelium is the random insane 1337speaker with a laziness complex. Squier is a punk rocker who uses a black hole as an avatar. Bob the Llama is a drunk chipmunk who thinks he's a llama. There's a radio in werbert's fingernail... CAR!! ! Pillows are always the answer. Cheese will be our downfall. Please don't touch the kittens. They contain no penicillin. I post a lot. I have over 66 posts per day. You must post constantly or I will go insane like I did the last time poeple stopped posting. Never psot. Psoting is the opposite of posting. I think that's everything you need to know.

Hi Piper!

Welcome to you from another 40 something aspie who plays a droning musical instrument (in my case the sitar). Keep on truckin'!

Hi Piper and welcome to WP

I'm in my 40s as well and only knew about AS earlier this year.
'Ceud Mille Failte' from the homeland of the bagpipe
(To anyone that's wondering that's a 'Hundered Thousand Welcomes' in Gaelic)

Hello Piper, and welcome.

You play the bagpipes...oh, I am wondering where you are from? I am guessing from maybe Northumberland, Ireland or Scotland (and there are probably more bagpipe playing places I don't know about lol)

I hope you enjoy yourself here :)

Ah, just read that you come from the Northeast - that'll teach ne for not paying attention!

Hi, all, and thanks for the welcome!

Nope I'm not from Scotland/Ireland. I currently live in upstate New York/USA but soon am going to be from 'any highway on the map/USA' as a trucker. I really think of myself as an alien, though..... But, I am of Scottish ancestry, and I actually have a brother and 2 cousins who are also pipers. I've played in the Albany Police Pipes & Drums band (altho I'm not a cop), and I've also competed at highland games as a solo piper, but now I just play mostly for myself. Interestingly, to be a decent piper, one kinda has to be obsessed with it. How convenient for an aspie person!

I think the internet is so great - I seem to always exist in a state of 'not understanding', 'not perceiving', being different, being attacked or under seige by humans, and here at last I see that there are actually other alien/people like me; alien/people who have had the same kind of experiences, problems and different ways of being in this world. That we really exist, we ARE 'out there' and amazingly, we even can contact our other AS/beings on this Wrong Planet. I love it!
