Why are you here? I've been lurking for a while and thought I should join and start posting.

When were you diagnosed? (skip if you don't have a disorder): I've never been but I probably should be.

Favourite music: anything... various and diverse. I would say my faves are classic rock especially punk, instrumental and industrial music, and angry chicks with pianos.

Books: I love them all.

TV shows/Movies: Mad Men, Law and Order: SVU, Intervention, Sex and the City

Do you like sports? I love tennis but I'm awful at it! Does that count?

Family: mom + dad and one brother, and countless extended family.

Clothing: Right now, yoga pants and a tshirt (broken ankle so I'm trapped on the couch.)

Hobbies and Interests: History, Astronomy and space, flying stunt kites, reading etc.

Why are you here? I want to meet other people who have similar problems to me, get some advice and make some friends.

When were you diagnosed? Haven't actually been diagnosed, too scared to go to the doctor.

Favorite subjects: History, which I'm studying at university. At school and college I also like biology, physics, geography, and Spanish

Year: First year undergrad.

Favourite music: Pop and rock mainly, but I'll listen to most things.

Books: Lord of the Rings trilogy, His Dark Materials trilogy, most things by George Orwell, love dystopian novels like Brave New World and A Clockwork Orange, the Eragon books, most things by Garth Nix, also I love classics like Wuthering Heights, Oliver Twist and Frankenstein.

TV shows/Films: Doctor Who, Benidorm, Red Dwarf, Spaced, Black Books, The Big Bang Theory, The Young Ones etc. And for movies: LOTR, This Is England, Constantine, Dirty Dancing, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, In Bruges, and loads more.

Instrument: I'm learning guitar.

Do you like sports? Only sport I take part in is kite flying, not sure if most people consider that a sport. I support West Ham United in the football, and McLaren in the F1.

Family: Mum, Dad, I'm the eldest of three children, with a younger brother and sister, I also see most of my extended family fairly often.

Clothing: I was once told that although I don't follow fashion I still have style, which is nice, I do try on the clothing front. I mainly wear plain shirts or t-shirts and pencil skirts or jeans.

How did you find this website?: It was recommended in a book I read on Aspergers

Job: Student, and I work part-time at IKEA selling hotdogs.

Plans for the future? Get a 1st or 2:1 in my degree, do my masters, maybe teach or work in the archives.

Hobbies and Interests: Playing video games, reading, writing, doodling and drawing, really listening to music.

Why are you here? Before I knew I had AS I felt as if I was the only person in the world that could feel this way. To see some of the things others say or experiences they describe, I feel like people here would understand me more than anyone I've met in person. I love seeing parallels between myself and others that I didn't create out of necessity.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): 22, I believe? My memory is awful.

Favorite subjects: English and sciences.

Year/Grade: Some college experience.

Favorite music: Currently it has been a lot of Animal Collective, Panda Bear, Cults and Ganglians. Every so often I like to delete the majority of the music that I have and try to culture a slightly different taste from the small sample I have left. As a general theme, for the past two years or so I've listened to more melodic music in contrast to a prior taste influenced mostly by punk and metal.

Books: I most recently finished Bram Stoker's Dracula and Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five. Classics for a reason, I'll say! I was given a 'nook' this past Christmas and it has reignited my love for reading books (the internet's made me lazy!)

TV shows/Movies: Oh, wow. As far as movies, I'll toss out that anything directed by Mr. Park Chan-Wook is great with a story you won't soon forget and great cinematography. I also love the acting in There Will Be Blood with Daniel Day-Lewis (also great in Last of the Mohicans.)
A fantastic TV series was Arrested Development. I love comedies and pretty much anything in that vein of humor is right up my alley; cynical, quick subtle.

Instrument: I used to play the trombone when I was in school, but more recently I decided to try my hand at singing. I felt that I've been making progress until I recorded myself and played it back. Voice lessons look more and more enticing!

Do you like sports? I find soccer fun to play, but I'm not one to play too many sports. I did love learning a little bit of brazilian jiu-jitsu and krav maga and as a consequence I find fighting sports exciting to watch both from an entertainment and technical standpoint.

Family: I love my family. It's hard for me to show it and it's hard for me to talk to anyone except for my mother, but I love them all tremendously and they've helped me through a lot. I couldn't ask for more, to be honest, because they have been more than understanding of me. I wouldn't be alive if not for them.

Clothing: I'm not always at the height of fashion, though recently I've been drumming up in myself some interest in style here and there. As an indicator to the kind of person I am, instead of updating my wardrobe throughout high school I decided to be the only person to still adhere to the previous dress code, albeit to a lesser degree (polos and khakis.)

How did you find this website? I can't remember. I think I was googling around for a community of people in the same boat. I didn't expect to find a site as extensive as WP and forums so populated. Kind of a sigh of relief.

Job: Not at the time. I quit my last one due to frustrations and the mounting pressure of an impending breakdown, which has cost me two jobs previously. This is easily the biggest obstacle in my life currently, to be able to function in a position for an extended amount of time; to wear the mask and not let it crack. Real f*****g hard, man.

Plans for the future? In the loosest outline of the future I intend to have a wife, a house, and kid(s.) I've had crazy times before and realized that my only real goal and purpose in life was to be like every other person when it was all said an done, to have a family and be happy. I don't need anything flashy, just enough for us all to be comfortable.

I was diagnosed in 2004 with Depression and then in 2009 with Bipolar 2, and Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia, Agoraphobia) and in 2010 with Borderline Personality Disorder, and Asperger's Syndrome.

I despised school. No favorite subjects because the students in the classes were all homophobic and prejudice cretins who made my life pure Hell.

Parents are divorced, have been for 13 years now. I have one younger sister who is 19, soon to be 20. I talk to my aunts and cousins on Facebook and see my Grandparents about once a month. I wish my family was closer, and I wish I saw them more often.


Clothing:

I hate clothing. I wish everyone could naked, If Adam and Eve hadn't messed it up we would all be naked I bet. Clothes are a hassle. People focus too much on the latest styles and what's "hot" and what's "not" who cares?! For me though I do prefer to wear more masculine type clothing. I don't look "right" in female clothing and I don't feel good in it.

Any comments? My story's not as tragic as you think, at least from my point of view. Do I always interact well? No. However I have friends who I interact with and I am on my way to college soon. It's more tragic for my parents. Me on the other hand, I always tell myself "Don't look at what you don't have and be thankful for what you do have." A few months ago, a house in my home town exploded. An old woman lived there and owned a dog, they were both hospitalized and survived and I told other people through facebook that same thing after saying "Just think to yourselves, 'What if I was the victim?'" I have parents who care about me, friends that I get along with and interact with, and a town that I feel is my home. What do I have to complain about?
