We can work well in teams, in ways that NTs don't relate to. :) And yes, I'm that lucky Aspie you found. :-*

Im sorry I found this thread so late, and unfortuantly it is so long by
now that I havent had a chance to read it all yet,

Have you had any aspies from NT join you yet?

I am from Darwin NT and am 36.

I have never had a chance to work in a team with
other aspies yet because I dont know any others.

I have briefly met one or two through a local support group
though but that is it, and they meet really infrequently
(like whenever the organiser has time). Most of the time she
is too busy with activities that support the families of kids
with Autism. There hasnt been a meeting since
March, and then they spent most of their time talking about
their aspie/autistic children. I dont have any children so what
good is that to me?

Anyway I will try to read some more of this thread before I
contribute any more responses.

Welcome sofie. I don't know any aspies in NT, but they must exist.

Yes, a lot of groups do focus on kids and us adults get forgotten, though some are starting to see us as hope for their kids. I just left a Facebook group, because it was both very child focused and very busy, so all it was doing was cluttering up my Facebook alerts.

Thanks for the welcome Solvejg, seems like a friendly bunch in this thread. WP is a little big to work with and I find forums clumsy, I'm just sticking to the Aussie board for now. :)

This aussie area is really just for welcomes really.

I am glad everyone is here.

It does make it hard for us others to keep up welcoming and such if the general banter is up here is in welcomes though.

Well, I'm sure we can do more than welcome. As I said, the volume of posts on WP is way too high for me to cope with in a forum format. I'd need a mailing list to keep up. :)

I'm 18, and I currently live in Canberra. Hoping to move shortly, once I get the money, and some social skills.

Is helpful to know a few people to where younare going to move to as well as makes getting used to the new environment a lot easier. I left home at 15 and would have been really difficult without a few people I knew around...altho the net certainly is a good thing to stay in touch with people.

I left home at 22, and moved into an area where I knew a few people, which helped. :)

Hey, I am from Australia too :)
I live just outside Kendall on the edge of a rain forest.
Kendall is a little town sort of between Taree and Port Macquarie in NSW.
