My sis has introduced me to this Asperger's thing after raising two kids that have it; Asperger's describes my social interactions perfectly, and the ensuing social wreckage that I could never quantify. I feel like I want to experience people who have it en masse, because we both (sis and I) think it is a huge benefit to have over Normals. I could just be a weirdo, and I am only about 80% sold on it. But it explains so much.

Why are you here? To shed some more light on Asperger's, meet folks who have it, and have something constructive to do in my ample free time!
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Asperger's--not officially yet; was diagnosed with ADD in '93, that became ADHD in 2006, and got diagnosed with Tourette's at the same time, but I was in the Navy at the time and I don't think they got it right (they don't deal with many active-duty Sailors with Asperger's). What is your first name?
* Caitlynn
Age:
* 20
Location:
* Belgium
Hobbies and Interests:
* One of my favorite hobbies is reading, a lot; but I'm also a frequent gamer and writer. My interests are too much to list; but a few things are photography, stuff 'bout zombies, poisonous plants.
Why are you here?
* Asperger's. And because I really wanted to comment on one of the threads.
When were you diagnosed? (Skip if you don't have a disorder):
* "Diagnosed" myself long time ago. Officially only a few months.
Favorite subjects:
* Photography, psychology, most scientific stuff, zombies and any psychiatric disorder. Oh, and ASD of course.
Year/Grade:
* Starting 2nd year of college again in September, due to illness the past year. Studying photography!
Favorite music:
* Gothic (incl. industrial), metal, rock and punk. Although I also like the older music of Eminem and Tupac as well.
Favorite books:
* Encyclopedias (yes, I'm for real. I started reading them when I was 7 years old), (humorous) scientific books, about autism/aspie, eating disorders, drugs addictions, runaways and abuse.
"Night Falls Fast" by Kay Redfield Jamison -- A scientific book about suicide
"Hippo eats Dwarf" and "Elephants on Acid" by Alex Boese -- Humorous scientific book about hoaxes (Hippo...) and bizarre experiments (Elephants...)
"A Friend Like Ben" by Julia Romp & Megan Lloyd Davies -- About a young autistic boy and his cat
"Go Ask Alice", unknown -- Drug addicted runaway
"A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey -- Drug addicted in a rehab
"A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess (awesome movie as well!) -- Everybody knows this one, I believe.
"Hoer" by Annabelle (Literally "Whore") -- The resume of a life as a hooker
"The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy" by Tim Burton -- Poems
As a child "Wachten op Elise" by Annelies Tock (Literally "Waiting for Elise") -- About a boy who falls in love with a jewish girl during WWII
TV shows/Movies:
* I barely watch TV. Like my books, my favorite movies are about autism/aspie, eating disorders and drug addictions. Or a good cult.
Instrument:
* Flute. But I really want to learn to play some other instruments like violin, cello, piano and hobo (well, obviously the instrument, not the spider). I tried guitar. I succeeded but I didn't like it.
Do you like sports?
* Not really. Although I enjoy running on a treadmill and watching figure skating and skateboarders.
And I want to learn to snowboard, skateboarding wasn't my thing.
Family:
* My parents, two sisters and my 3 year old son. I also have a hamster and a bird. (I saved it when it fell out of its nest.)
Clothing:
* At least one piece of black clothing. Most of the time I dress like a victorian goth or a metal head. Though I have my days I look like a hippy or a female Kurt Cobain.
How did you find this website?
* I don't really know it that good. But I think I might enjoy my stay.
Job:
* Student! And I don't want to think about my future to work full-time since I'm getting sicker and sicker each day.
Plans for the future?
* After my photography study, I'd like to go study something like parasitology. In my spare time I want to learn to make clothes and how to apply professional make-up. And I also want to learn how to speak Russian, Spanish and Swedish. (But I think I'm gonna start with English, French and maybe German since this are my vernacular languages.)
Any comments?
* I have to stop writing! I've written way to much. Must have bored the sh*t out of you guys!

What is your first name? SubHuman

Hobbies and Interests: books(diff genres), music(same as books), martial arts/culture, movies(same as books), periodic poetry and painting when mood strikes and if materials are handy, plants/herbs/chemicals/magic/alchemy/science and the possibilities of using any or all to not be human.
Why are you here? Stumbled upon a few posts and thought it may be easier to be myself and share my real ideas instead of having to research and mimic to fit in.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): as a kid. was taken to a place to do a whole lot of tests. my grandparents went in the office alone and then ran out and rushed me away. never told me what was going on. after that they did everything to force me to be social and do what they saw as normal things even though all I wanted to do was stay at home alone with my toys and books. at 18 got diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia....can function normally when needed but it drains me like nobodies business.... use tons of herbal medicine because the scrip meds really messed me up... still use them for certain things though...
Favorite subjects: None really. Math, Finance, Economics, Art/Music (the appreciation-unstructured ones not the learn this artist with this piece of work by rote crap) Risk Management and the Sciences were fun. The create part of English was cool. History and Politics/Social Science bored me to death except for the part that helped me understand how certain trends worked on the masses so I could try to avoid the effects and be able to stop people from possibly harming me based on them.
Year/Grade: graduated long ago
Favorite music: different ones, changes frequently..... lol right now it's skillet and related stuff

Do you like sports? individual ones except for soccer and rugby
Family: yes. not much involvement except that I rent a room because my two jobs do not pay me enough to live in a secure and quiet neighborhood.
Clothing: very loose fit cargoes, khakis, sweats, and shirts.
How did you find this website? stumbled upon it.
Job: data entry. the title is some glorified foolishness.
Plans for the future? plan on enjoying as many books, movies, songs, games, and museum/gallery trips as possible and die by my own hand at 45 or when I just get more tired of living than I already am. hopefully some trips in nature if i can ever get not lazy enough to go and afford it.
Any comments?nice questions. sorry for rambling. never get to express my real ideas much.

Why are you here? I thought it would be nice to meet more people who better understand my quirks and discuss issues close to my heart. There's only so much you can tell people about ASDs before they glaze over!
When were you diagnosed?: November 2010.
Favorite subjects: History, most definitely. I also enjoyed languages, especially writing them.
Year/Grade: I got my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology in February!
Favorite music: Rock, alternative, drum and bass, some dance and exceptionally catchy pop stuff.
Books: Yes, please. Basically anything other than chicklit and detectives. I love Philippa Gregory's books on the Tudor court, Marion Bradley's Avalon series, the Harry Potter series... I could go on but I think it suffices to say that I have three bookcases in my room and they are threatening to overflow.
TV shows/Movies: Game of Thrones, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, The Tudors and occasionally House MD and Bones. I'm not keen on films, though. My attention span isn't all that.
Instrument: Nope. Small hands with crooked fingers
Do you like sports? Not even slightly. I have enough trouble not losing my balance as it is,
Family: Parents, divorced, and one younger sister. I live with my Dad.
Clothing: Anything from jeans and a t-shirt to dresses with high heels. I also have a thing for suits and shirts (on me as well as on men), brogues and quirky socks. I'm currently wearing hot pink ones with whales on them.
How did you find this website? I Googled it. Forum + Asperger's syndrome and this popped up.
Job: As of now, I assist eldery people around the house (cleaning and tidying, mostly), and I'll be starting a correspondence course to become a translator in September.
Plans for the future? Obtain my PhD, possibly become a translator (English -> Dutch, Dutch -> English), travel a lot and eventually settle down with the boyfriend.
Any comments? Nope!

Instrument: Don't play anything
Do you like sports? No
Family: None, just me since I was dropped off - stupid stork. No children, and never will be any and very single and being completely realistic, will probably always will be, but I have no crystal ball so who knows.
Clothing: I hate the stuff, who ever had the idea that it would be a good idea to wear it all the time was so wrong. Then to basically make it mandatory, well that just is not right.
How did you find this website? Beats me.. maybe Google, maybe a link off a site from Google, or maybe a link off a site, off a link.. repeat. Seriously, I have an addiction and need help, if knowledge and browsing can be called an addiction. But, to give an idea how bad it can be - only time my browser ever crashes is when it is running at around 950,000 K
