This past couple of years has been a mind-blowing year for me. My son was diagnosed with asperger's at age 8, and now he's 10. I realized my father also has asperger's. As a child I used to be on the receiving end of my father's rage's as I called them., I had a very scary childhood, but with my son's dx a light came on and I made the connection to my father and his explosive behaviors and his perseverations and his social difficulties.

Finally, life seems to make some sense and my son is a really neat kid. He's got spunk and a very quirky sense of humor. My son loves Mac computer's and is into hacking Super Mario games. He's also into XCode and I'm trying to find a computer class so he can get Lion certified.

Also, a confession here...my husband and I haven't officially come out and told our son about his dx. For all his appointments and testing I told my son that we were trying to figure out if there was something that didn't work right in his body (at first we thought he was having seizures, but they were ruled out) So, I always found a way to put off telling him. My husband was against it and now I've convinced him that we have to say something before the school does.
