Why are you here? To find out more and understand about Asperger's and to try and make friends. I am new here so very nervous and shy.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Not officially diagnosed yet but my doctors and support workers thnk I definitely have Asperger's Syndrome.

Favorite subjects: Even though I am not currently at school or college, I love maths, science, computing and english.

Year/Grade: N/A

Favorite music: pop, rnb, some rock and especially dance and trance. I love westlife, JLS, rihanna, Pink, Jason Derulo, Akon, Basshunter, Cascada, Scooter and more.

Books: wow too many to name them all here, but love study books, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Malory Towers, Alex Rider, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and books by Jacqueline Wilson, Roald Dahl, Stephen King, shakespeare, charles dickens and more.

TV shows/Movies: Harry Potter, all CSIs, NCIS, all Law and Order, FBI files, Cold case, shameless, simpsons, futurama, family guy, american dad, holby city, waterloo road, crime, drama, sport, athletics, history, wildlife, science, nature and documentaries to name a few.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was really young and I have been seeing therapists and other doctors since I was 6 years old. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at 9 years old.

Year/Grade: Graduated from high school in 2009. Graduated from Dental Assisting School in 2010.

Favorite music: I like all types of music. I like music from all different years. (80's, 90's, 2000-2011) I know A LOT of music.

Books: I really like to read. I just haven't read any good books lately. I really like the book Define Normal though.

TV shows/Movies: Pretty Little Liars is my favorite show. I like a lot of shows. I don't really like reality shows though. / The Hangover, Pineapple Express and many more. I mainly like Comedy.

Instrument: I really like pianos and acoustic guitars and drums. I like a lot of instruments.

Do you like sports? I like to watch football with my Fiance. I wish I did sports in high school but I never did. I like to run so I wish I did track or something.

Family: I live with my Fiance. We have been together for 2 years. I have known him for about 3 years. I love my family. I am very close to my mother and grandmother.


Clothing: I love fashion. I mostly like to wear things that are comfortable though because my skin is really sensitive and a lot of materials itch my skin.

How did you find this website? One of my doctors told my mom about it years ago. I have checked it out a few times but recently decided to join.

Job: I used to be a Dental Assistant until I got sick recently and had to stop working.

Plans for the future? I want to get married to my fiance and have a few children. (Getting married in May 2012) I would love to become a Dental Hygienist or Dentist but I have a lot of problems communicating with others.

Why are you here?
I was just diagnosed with Asperger's recently. I feel like my whole persona kind of unraveled when I started to research exactly what this meant. I had always believed my situation was intensely isolated. Therefore I assumed it to be me, my personality if you will. Now, I am being told it is more of a disorder, rather than my personality. In a way I feel a large burden lifted and in the same thought I feel anonymous. Melancholy...how typical.

God Is Not Great, Twilight of the Idols, The Phantom Tollbooth, Still Life With Woodpecker, Days of Love Nights of War, The Naked Ape, Manwatching, Neil Gaiman, Comic books (specifically DC and EC, some Vertigo) tons of reference books and historical non-fiction.

Why are you here? I've been lurking for a while, everyone seems really nice, and I associate with the people here far better than most of the people I know in real life.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):When I was eight, then it got pushed out of everyone's mind, and then six months ago I started going to a psychologist again for anxiety and such, and it got brought back up.

How did you find this website? Google, I think. It was right after I was diagnosed the second time, and I searched something about AS, and one result was here, and I guess I just kept coming back. It seemed safe.

Job:Nothing right now. If someone paid me to fill out applications, I'd be set for life.

Plans for the future? I'd like to do music professionally. It's always been natural for me, so it seems like the best option.

Well, generally I don't have a genre preference... I like classics a lot but I read also weird or postmodern or even silly books sometimes) Then there is magic realism (like One hundred years of solitude, for instance) and just random books from Latin American writers. Not a big fan of science fiction or fantasy, though.

Right now I'm exploring how AS and autism are portrayed in books and movies, so I'm reading 'House rules' by Jodi Picoult. Together with 'The god delusion' by Richard Dawkins (these two in Russian translation) and Doris Lessing's 'The sweetest dream' in Italian.

...shouldn't ever be allowed to enter a bookshop again, I spend too much there)
