I am due to see my GP this week to have a chat and a referral as I strongly feel I am an aspie.

I thought it may be useful to have a specific thread on other's experiences and or aprehensions on this. I am from the UK so please can you mention where you are from in your post to help others.

All responses welcome.

I'm not diagnosed but from reading other threads on the matter, I think it is better to see an AS specialist. Maybe your GP is well versed in how AS can manifest in an adult and take into account the skills you may have learned over time, but it seems to be unlikely. There have been accounts of people being dismissed because they were able to make the appointment in the first place, or looked them in the eye, or have a friend, etc.

Where are you from in the world :) In the UK I have looked at the autism websites and there seems to be more specialists regarding children with ASD's...any advice on selecting a specialist as I feel a little out of my depth

I plan to go myself for the official diagnosis, so I'm curious to see what others will post. (I have AQ 40 as well btw.)

Hey reject, hope you're well. I'm in the UK and received a referral around 3 weeks ago. I'd only end up repeating myself.
I posted a few paragraphs here that may be of use to you.

I am in the US so healthcare is only for the rich, however I am wondering where you guys have the scores in your signatures, I want to see where I might fit in on the spectrum since I am unsure if I meet all the qualities.
