Where to begin...I am almost 32 years old and have been living the Aspie life for as long as I can remember. When I was in grade school I had a shyness and inability to read social cues just about sank my battleship in the small, rural school that I attended. This set the stage for the rest of my life.
Like any good Aspie, I certainly have the topics that I am obsessed with. The early years were characterized by stuff like Star Trek, my teen years were dominated by music-mostly classic heavy metal, and my college years and beyond were characterized by cars. Of course, I had to make it be very specialized and I focused on French cars known as Citroens.
I didn't date until well after college and am coming out of a 4 year relationship with a girl who is probably an Aspergers gal herself, But, she also had a background of family violence and this made her very unpredictable with her emotions and it eventually got too much to handle.
So, now I am back to being single and finding myself trying to reinvent myself. I am a laid-off English teacher and just today started the paperwork to pursue my masters in English in the fall. I am hoping to meet some new people, and to eventually teach on the college level.
Hope this wasn't too long, I've been cruising these forums for a couple weeks and I think I would like to hang out here a bit.
Thanks all for your time.
