What is your first name? Fay

Hobbies and Interests: Drawing, writing, sewing, movies and tv, reading (mostly fantasy and sci-fi), astronomy, physics, baking.
Why are you here? I just got diagnosed, and I was looking for more info and stuff, I found this site and it seemed interesting.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Today! Well, technically yesterday since it's past Midnight now, but this morning. Years of wondering if I had aspergers finally vindicated!
Favorite subjects: Most of them, really. I always loved learning everything. I'm studying maths for science on the Open University at the moment.
Year/Grade: Well I haven't been in school for four years, but I would be just finished my third year at art college about now if I hadn't dropped out.
Favorite music: I like a lot of different music, I mostly listen to alternative, classic rock and folk though.
Books: The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Good Omens, Rivers of London. I love Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings, too.
TV shows: Doctor Who, Sherlock, Supernatural, Community, Avatar: The Last Airbender, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Buffy, Science documentaries, anything with really good costumes.
Movies: The Avengers (and the rest of the movies that go with it), Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Paprika, Velvet Goldmine, and about a billion others. I REALLY like movies.
Instrument: I play the ocarina, but I'd love to learn the synth, if I could afford one...
Do you like sports? Not regular sports, really. But I want to take up archery, and I quite like yoga and things.
Family: Mum, dad, one older sister. All neurotypical, though my mum suspects she might be on the high-functioning end of the autistic spectrum.
Clothing: I mostly wear long skirts, tight black long-sleeved shirts, big scarves, doc marten boots. A bit of a personal uniform, I guess. I like big jumpers too (though not wool ones because I can't stand the itch), and shorts and leggings.
How did you find this website? Through Tony Attwood's site.
Job: I'm currently unemployed, but my dream job is to work as a costume designer.
Plans for the future? I want to go back to college, but study something different. Other than that, I'm not sure.
What is your first name? Emily
Age: 19
Location: Michigan
Hobbies and Interests: Reading and listening to talk radio; history, theology, and politics.
Why are you here? I wanted a place to connect with other Aspies.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): January 2006
Favorite subjects: When I was in school I most enjoyed history and English.
Year/Grade: Graduated high school in 2011
Favorite music: wide range
Books: The Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis, The Silmarillion and Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, 1984, and The Violent Bear It Away (a novella by Flannery O'Connor)
TV shows/Movies: Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Trek (ToS), Law & Order: Criminal Intent, 24, Hogan's Heroes
Instrument: none. Parents made me take two years of piano and I hated it. I now feel ashamed and regretful about that whole affair...
Do you like sports? Not particularly.
Family: Biologically? I have two parents, one brother (7 yrs older than I), and one sister (6 yrs older). I only really have contact with my father (with whom I live) and my sister. My brother also has AS, my mother has ADD, and some times I think my father displays very, very slight AS characteristics, but not so many as to be impaired and socially inept like I am. In fact, he sometimes seems to have several of the assets associated with Asperger's without any of the drawbacks.
Clothing: I LOVE skirts. Especially long, flowy, "peasant" skirts. I'm not particularly sensitive to a lot of textures, thankfully.
How did you find this website? I was Googling for information about Asperger's.
Job: none at the moment, but may soon begin working as a custodian for my church
Plans for the future? I want to teach history, government, and maybe Bible classes, most likely at the high school level.
Any comments? This is my first post!

What is your first name? Sarah
Age: 21
Location: BYU-Idaho at the moment
Hobbies and Interests: reading, playing and listening to music, art, graphic design, technology, learning for the sake of learning, science
Why are you here? I have borderline Asperger's Syndrome ( fit most but not all the DSM-IV criteria), or I fit in the Broad Autism Phenotype. I'm not sure which. Either way, I'm trying to understand myself better and figuring out to be the happiest most successful person I can be.
When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): a few weeks ago.
Favorite subjects: Art, Science (so long as there isn't math involved), English
Year/Grade: junior in college
Favorite music: Oh, where to begin? I think I'll just stick with genres to make this easier. Progressive rock/metal (usually not a fan of screaming though), experimental, alternative/indie, some classic rock, trip hop, some jazz, and classical (particularly baroque, romantic, and modern).
Books: A Cloockwork Orange, Brave New World, The Count of Monte Cristo, Lord of the Rings, Flowers For Algernon, Night, Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman, Godel Escher and Bach, anything Roald Dahl, The Great Gatsby. I can't remember everything but it's generally dystopian literature, non-fiction on subjects I'm interested in, classical literature (so long as it isn't too longwinded), sci-fi and fantasy, so long as it's relatable to this world somehow, and books that experiment with language, such as Clockwork Orange, Jabberwocky, James Joyce, etc. that use made up words to express themselves (I like the experience of interpretation and decoding).
TV shows/Movies: A Beautiful Mind, anything Pixar, Miyazaki, or Tim Burton, Avengers, Fullmetal Alchemist, Trigun, Monty Python, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Death Note, Star Wars, Star Trek, Between the Folds (documentary on origami). Generally anything highly creative, cerebral, awe inspiring, or relatable.
Instrument: piano, cello, electric and acoustic guitar.
Do you like sports? I prefer individual sports, but team sports are fun on occasion. At least they're social experiences where you don't have to talk too much.
Family: I have a mom and dad, happily married, 2 sisters ages 19 and 17 (one of which has classical autism, non verbal, no hope of ever living independently) and a brother, age 13. I'm the oldest.
Clothing: I'm actually somewhat into fashion (though I pick and choose trends). I guess it's the artist in my that likes composing my outfits. I tend to like retro, bohemian, and rocker style clothing.
How did you find this website? When I was first diagnosed, I went on a researching rampage on AS, and this is one of the things that came up.
Job: I don't work while I'm at school. I work at my dad's dental office during breaks, cleaning and setting up rooms for appointments, data entry, occasionally answering the phone, figuring out software quirks so I can help the assistants and hygienist, and the occasional graphic design jobs (phonebook and magazine ads, comment cards, forms, etc.).
Plans for the future? Ideally, I want to design the credits for movies. I know, it sounds odd, but well designed credits for movies are one of the few things I can get ecstatic over. I also want to play in a rock band and an orchestra. Being financially independent would be nice too.
