I am looking for a chat room for my son who is being bullied, is lonely and needs someone to chat to. Is this a good chat room that is safe for a 14 year old?

i can't speak for the chatrooms here, but overall, WP is a nice wholesome place [aside from the adult forums and also PP&R which is somewhat harsh at times]. my advice would be for him to stick to the kid forums here [under 18] at first until he gets the hang of things.

The kids and adolescent forums would be fine for him.

Perhaps you could supervise him when he signs up, to make sure he enters his correct age. That way he will not have access to the Adult Forum, the only bit of WP that would be inappropriate for him. I didn't put in an age when I joined, and it wouldn't let me into the adult forum, so I simply went back and added my age which is fine for me because I am 26, but a younger person could have added an age to make them appear over 17 when that was not the case. I'm sure your son is honest and sensible at heart, but it's normal for kids to want to go where they aren't allowed!

WP is a nice, safe place. Nobody will bully your son here.

I agree - send him over to the kid's section and he might find some friends & a good place to be heard!

Thanks for the information everyone! I'll direct him to the kids forum and I'm pretty sure he will put in his correct age. He always gives me his computer passwords because he knows I am on his side and can help him if he runs into problems online while respecting his privacy at the same time. I'm glad to hear that WP is nice and wholesome, maybe he can find the support that he desperately needs.
