Okay, I'm not exactly new--in fact I feel kinda old. I was trying to put in a link to some of my photos. I have to use my computer at work because I don't have internet at home, so my online access is limited. I don't think I did it right. How do you post photos on here? I clicked on the image icon and it asked for an image url. That's also the reason I don't have an avatar. I feel like such a ditz for even having to ask. Thanks ahead of time for your patience.

Don't worry, you're not a ditz at all. It took me a wee while to work it all out when I signed up.

There are two ways adding an avatar. The first and most simple option is to simply find an image online that you like and copy and past the URL (the web address) where Wrong Planet asks you for it. If the image is small enough, then it will work straight away. Unfortunately, lots of images will be too big.

The other way is to use a picture that is stored on your own computer. To do this you will need to upload the picture onto an image sharing site. I use Photobucket. Firstly, you may want to resize your picture as WP only allows 16kb. For this you will need to use an image resizer,I use Shrinkpictures.com, and select the 'avatar' option. Once you have done that you can upload that image onto photobucket (or the image sharer of your choice) and underneath photobucket will provide you with the URL. You then simply paste this to Wrong Planet.

If you wish to add a picture to a post you can either follow the same process, or link to the picture on the web. Use the preview function to make sure your image isn't massive. Massive images make the mods feel all sad.

I'm not very good at explaining things, so this may not make any sense. If you want to ask me to clarify anything then feel free. Hopefully someone who can explain things better will come along soon

Ah. Actually, that was extremely helpful. Unfortunately, most of the photo-sharing websites I know of are blocked at work. Rats.
