Why are you here? I have Asperger's Syndrome and want to deal with it in the best, most positive way I can.

When were you diagnosed? Age 16, 2011

Hobbies: Photography and documentary-watching

Favourite subjects: English (non-literary, that is. I'm good at English, but not good at literature analysis), ancient history, politics.

Grade: first year of university

Favourite music: ABBA, Status Quo, ACDC, Queen, ELO, and various one-hit wonder songs. Any song composed with musical talent and which gets me going.

TV shows: Mythbusters (my favourite), and documentaries on the Discovery Channel and National Geographic

Favourite books: Lord of the Flies (surprise surprise. I think a lot of us Aspies like this book because it's an insight into neurotypical human nature), Nineteen Eighty Four (fascinating book, everyone should read it), various preteen books that I still read from time to time, such as the 'Just' series by Andy Griffiths, various non-fiction like 'What Makes Us Tick?' by Will Mackay.

Instruments: None unfortunately.

Do you like sport? I like watching sport (though I can't quite get the neurotypical kick out of it), but don't play except for some golf occasionally.

Clothing: My thirteen year old sister is my fashion adviser. I'm from an Italian background so I was taught that fashion is something to worry about. However, I refuse to wear stuff I consider effeminate, ugly or uncomfortable.

Family: I'm grateful to have three living grandparents (nonnas and nonnos, I'm supposed to take after my nonno because he's quite serious), and have parents who are quite sociable but a little strange, and a little sister who's very sociable but a little strange.

Hobbies and Interests: I love studying most living science related things: animals, stars, solar systems, plants (mostly dif types), rocks and even micro-organisms are interesting. I like to read, make jewelry, play video games, explore and martial arts.

Why are you here? I have been kinda busy/nervous about posting stuff so I don't know whether you can call me a new member or not. But I signed up because I'm the first person in my family not Neuro-typical. I didn't have anyone that was in my spot and I wanted someone to talk to that was in a simular place that I am. Plus I'd like to make some friends too...

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Age 3 with PDD-NOS.

Favorite subjects: Science, Art, Philosophy (in bits) and Home Ec (for cooking!)

Year/Grade: University Junior

Favorite music: I like most types, I guess some artists: Seal, Nightwish, evanence, Adele, Alexander Rybak and etc. I'm willing to give any artist a try though.

Books: Sherlock Holmes! Otherwise my book list would be to long.

TV shows/Movies: Same as above, Davingi code, The hobbit, and generally all action and comedy movies. I love the science, animal planet, travel channel and cartoons. I'd recommend Ingenious minds to anyone cause it's cool to look at.

Instrument: Used to play trumpet

Do you like sports? Ehh kinda, if family and friends want to play than sure. Parties are ok with good company and food. If none is an option, than no.

Family: Dad, Mom, Brother and a few distint cousins, we're small but close.

Clothing: Shirts, pants and tennis shoes in general. How anyone can stand in 4-5in heels, I'll never know.

Favorite music: pop/rock/rap/jazz/folk/latin/r&b.

Books: I love to read English books. For example: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, A song of Ice and Fire.

Why are you here? I'd like to share my insights about Asperger's / autism with others and learn from other people who are also on the autism spectrum.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I was "unofficially" diagnosed for $10 by a psychologist's intern when I was 19. I was "officially" diagnosed (with paperwork) by the Department of Labor Voc Rehab when I was 26.

Favorite subjects: Biology, English, History, Art, Music, ets.

Year/Grade: I'm a college graduate with a degree in Horticulture.

Favorite music: Oingo Boingo, Morrissey, Bruce Springsteen, Roger Clyne, Pink Floyd, and many many others. I like a veriety of musical styles, from weird alternative music to rock & roll to country. I really like artists that write good lyrics, have their own unique style, and let their personality show in their music.

Books: Nonfiction: The Encyclopedia of Country Living, Prescriptions for Herbal Healing, What Type am I, Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About, etc. Fiction: Wuthering Heights, The Jesus Factory, 1984, etc. I like to read.

TV shows/Movies: I've never watched much TV. Some of my favorite movies are The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, The Forbidden Zone, Spaceballs, etc. I like the really weird movies.

Instrument: I don't play an instrument but I do sing.

Do you like sports? Not structured competitve sports, but I do like going hiking, being outdoors, and staying active.

Family: My parents are still married, and I have a 25 year old brother. I've never been married and don't have any kids.

Clothing: Comfortable, mostly 100% cotton, mostly hippie style. I make natural tie-dyes with plant dyes and know how to sew.

Plans for the future? I'm working on starting a business doing natural tie-dyes with plant dyes and selling them at pow-wows and arts & crafts fairs. I'd also like to find a way to get paid to write. When I have the money, I'd like to buy a piece of land and start my own organic homestead.

Any comments? Being a guitar and bass teacher is nice for me, music seems to be the only thing I am comfortable talking about. I seem to have all of the symptoms, some more apparent than others.. even if I don't notice it myself. I can't keep eye contact and I don't recognize body language or facial expressions at all (I actually thought I was good at doing that until my girlfriend said I had almost no ability to recognize that stuff). For the obsessed aspect of it, I have always been obsessed with music. I teach music 6 days a week and used to play guitar 12 hours a day. I checked out this website because I'm curious about this whole thing. I took the "online test" several times (which I know doesn't diagnose anything officially) and averaged around 35 where 28 was borderline..
